Whilst I want a change in politics IMHO the brexit party will split the leave vote. Won't matter as much in the EU elections as it's PR but come the locals and a future GE whenever that may be this will just lead to a corbyn government. There is a growing movement in this country for a populist direction in politics but I feel it will hit the buffers when it comes to how the votes are arrived at in FPTP.... Nailed my colours to UKIP FWIW Love Farage for what he did to get us out of the EU but put simply his new party is a vote splitter. I think you're right that it will possibly affect the effect of the anti-eu (populist) vote but looking at the most recent polls for the EU elections the Brexit Party are on around 27% of the vote and UKIP has fallen to around 7%, so at the moment it seems like UKIP are struggling more in trying to keep hold of their support.

Here comes Tommy !

European elections: Tommy Robinson 'standing as MEP for north-west England'
Tommy Robinson is standing as a member of the European Parliament, despite facing a prison sentence of up to two years in an ongoing court case. The English Defence League founder says he is standing as an MEP for the north-west region of England. “Put me right inside the EU and they won’t know what hit them,” he told supporters, claiming that he would “fight to preserve our national identity against Islamification” and cut immigration. Read more: Robinson banned from Facebook and Instagram (The Guardian) Robinson appeared to be standing as an independent candidate, despite being appointed as Ukip's adviser on grooming gangs by leader Gerard Batten last year. The anti-Islam activist, who has served prison sentences for crimes including fraud, was prevented from becoming a Ukip member by rules barring former members of the EDL and British National Party. He announced his candidacy to followers on the encrypted messaging app Telegram, after being banned from mainstream social networks including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat.

Anything he endorses gets dragged into his shit. I’d prefer him to stay away but he won’t because it’s all about him He has the potential to ruin any leave campaign by association

Like you I hope he doesn't damage the Brexit Party campaign.

One significant thing that should not be overlooked, even if it is not ultimately successful.......the Brexit party has encouraged non-politicians to be involved in the process...... doesn't sound revolutionary, but actually I think it could add a breath of fresh air to politics......all too often we look no further than Labour or Tory and therefore entitled myopic career party politicians by default.....not thinkers, doers and leaders in their field but conformists who largely stick to mantra but share one common characteristic.....we know best and will tell you how to behave ( and increasingly how to think).

Hate to say it, but that was my first thought, too. but it’s not about a GE for me. The Brexit Party can Do enoughto show labour and torys we want change. No I'd go further than just the EU elections, it is about the GE as well. The shysters in both the Tories and Labour have proved that they are just not trustworthy and have no intention whatsoever of honouring the referendum result. They have repeatedly lied to the 17.4 million Leave voters and many have openly frequently lied to their own constituents. They just spout the same old mantra "that was then, but we know differently now", which they feel is sufficient to placate their voters. Well myself, and many other millions, have more than had enough. Brexit is an important litmus test, and it should be delivered, but democracy is also at stake and just giving these oiks a ticking off isn't going to change anything. Just sending a message through the EU result (hopefully) to these pondlife is a start but it isn't anywhere near enough, They all need replacing with people who, on the face of it at least, do seem to be fully intent on honouring the referendum result, and also changing the whole ethos of our parliamentary "system". Time will tell, even though I fear that Steptoe may well win at the next GE, I really do hope that a seismic change could be on the cards.

Some supportive comments listed in these tweets. I think that the task in hand is to spread the word about the nature of these candidates and genuinely get people to ask themselves if they could be any worse than what we've had for the last three or four years ....or even more importantly are these people more positive and forward thinking can-doers than the traditional politicians.

Who in God's earth can I vote for now I've been betrayed. Labour has historically been anti EU even Corbin has campaigned all his political life against the EU, they would be my natural choice if they had not completely changed their ethos, plus I could not vote for a terrorist supporting anti English hypocritical anti Semite Marxist then we have his racist comrades, I will personally spoil my ballot paper with a few choice words as a foot note.

I would have to see who runs in my constituency but atm Brexit if they field a candidate.

I just hope there will be a mass migration from UKIP They're losing voters all the time to the Brexit Party. Before the launch, Ukip were sitting at around 14-15% of the intended vote, but since the Brexit Party launch Ukip have dropped to around 7% and are apparently still losing voters to them on a daily basis. Some of their sitting MEP's in Brussels also left Ukip and transferred over to the Brexit Party.

Well done mate ! These shysters are all the bloody same - snouts in the trough ! The whole political "system" has needed an earthquake for years and years, and Brexit could hopefully just be the catalyst to make it happen. I've never been politically minded in the past, but this complete and utter betrayal of the referendum result, and by extension, of democracy itself, has made me absolutely determined to try to do my bit in changing things for the better. These shysters can't be allowed to get away with this !
