I've always thought every year the fan can see a player with quality but Hughes never seems too spot them or don't try too get them. For one when Everton got bolasie palace got benteke and sigurdson before he went back Swansea morgan schneiderlin was class and proven in the league but yet Hughes waste 18 mill on imbula who never played in the prem same as Joselu and diouf he wasted some money

The problem is, what player or his agent, will want to come to stoke? Everton and all the London clubs will offer more money and are bigger attractions. So we have to gamble on players that may come good eg Jack. But 18 mill on Imbula does make you wonder what was going thru his head? Same with 10 mill on Palacious?

Yeah that's my point, last season I think we finished above Everton or season before and people were saying we equal to them but they have spent wise on quality and now they pushed on we haven't. It all comes down too a 25 goal a season striker. If we offloaded all the old players and the money we generate and wages we save we could pay 20/25 mill for sturrige or get Defoe on free and get bojan back playing get shaq bojan arnie behind berinho get another cm to play with Allen and get cb and 2 wing backs we will have a good swason

We try and fail with imbula and succeed with shaquiri and Arnie
Win some lose some and one of the reason we stick with older but proven players in Walters and Crouch
The primary aim is to avoid relegation. League position a bonus

We have bought good players in,but good players are not enough unless we play a system that suits them,we could have 11 world class players, but what would that achieve if we are not a team but 11 individuals?

I think it's money well spent you only had too look what he did at villa, he will score lot more next season he will hit 20 goals. What stoke problem is they spend 10 mill and 6 mill on striker and they do nothing might as well spend 20+ mill on 1 good striker and I can't argue with how well crouch as done but is that just because shows how poor the rest are?? Like how can bony lose is class when he comes too stoke ?? He always scored goals. I read what Alex furguson said yesterday that players mirror there manager on how they performe, we only have look how much passion Hughes shows... nothing he looks like he cba

I no but what's he on about computer games ?? No one said it's Fifa, but everyone else in the league is in the same position reguarding players and improving all we need is maybe 4 players

Like someone else said, " you win some, you lose some". Compare Everton's record over any 10 year period, and you'll find that currently we are doing better relative to them than at any point in our history. |

I agree Gibson and harry maguire why not get both and Bruno there are back 3 shawcross no where near good enough these days all he does is boots it in the air. Hughes needs grow some balls and get rid why he maybe get 5 million back for him and get youth and quality

I also suspect that the London clubs have large networks among each other and with foreign clubs. They particularly seem immersed in the loan market. Deals are done very quickly with the London clubs. Even the lower league clubs in the area have no trouble getting promising young players on loan from Premier League clubs. For normal income people, Stoke has an advantage in terms of lower cost of living. That's not an issue for top tier professional footballers. |

There isn't a player around who would join everton over stoke because they won some trophies in the 80's.
All these players care about is the money.
But everton spent a shed load of cash on bolasie and look what happened.
They have also boldly declared they have 100 million to spend, well they have just added ten mill to the price of any player they sign and thereby inflated the transfer market even more.
We really need to focus on our own coaching, improving our own youngsters and giving them chances in the first team. There is no good value in the transfer market for any premier league club
