2-0 Arsenal. Good news as far as I'm concerned as I want to detail their Champions League bid not beat them in a dead rubber..... I understand where you're coming from but personally I would be happier to see Arsenal lose every single game. If they were playing their reserves I'd like them both to lose.

Arsenal have hit a good patch of form with only Spurs beating them lately. That's also the first time they've beaten Southampton away in the league since promotion. Dont forget Wenger beat Jose too for the first time in about 15 games.
I hope the boys are fired up like usual but I can't see it with our performances v the big teams this season, I dont think weve even beat anyone ABOVE US AS THE TABLE STANDS. Arsenal are clear favourites Saturday. SADLY.

We will need our best performance of the season to beat them after tonight , would end season at home in a positive way . Just hope it's not another tame effort we have to get in their faces and get the crowd going .

Exactly, thats the problem! There is no way we can beat Arsenal any other way after how this season has gone A midfield that can't pass and two forwards with the pace and movement of very slow objects. Other than that, just what we need to boost our goal output. Will anything boost our goal output? I dont think so

I'm chuffed that Arsenal are undergoing a mini revival and have an excellent chance of making the Top 4. I know this season has been a bit flat, but on a whole the club is progressing well. We need to learn to be more realistic.
Saturday is the time to turn the clock to our first season in The Prem. Late KO, chance for a few pints of swill. Let's make the ground an awful place for the Arse and Monsieur Wenger. Let's P155 on their chips.
"Champions League...you're having a laugh!!!"

Our ship has sailed. I don't think we have that type of grit and attitude any more.
Hope the lads prove me wrong.

I'm less than optimistic now that they have a European chance, they'll be going all out unfortunately and we must disarm Alexis or suffer!

If the lads turn up for a 'bit of a knock' like they did against Chelsea, kick a few of them (particularly Sanchez and Giroud) and get old prune face out of his dugout, I'm sure a pissed up crowd will respond accordingly!

Hope the lads prove me wrong. ^^^ This is unfortunately very true ^^^ Gone are the days where the manager, players and supporters would dread coming to the Brit. We're now like a dozen other Prem sides with no atmosphere, no 'grit' in the team and could very easily see us being turned over. Phil Bardsley and Charlie Adam would be good fun to kick a few of their lot up in the air, but I expect it to be a damp squib of a game.

They and the manager should be giving public apologies for some of the shit they've served up. It's been a dreadful season. Our worst since we've been back at the top level. It's not been the best is a bloody understatement.

I agree it's been disappointing but its infinitely better than scoring 15 goals from open play (or however many it was) all season IMO. At least we've got a few players who can produce some magic.

So - reading the above 'support'
There will be thousands 'bailing after 75 minutes' then
last home game of the season ??
squad does lap of honour to virtually empty stadium then ???
I think they realise its not been good this time around too
Ive not been happy either but, sometimes you have to stand up for your team - through thick and thin
& show your allegiance
- So I expect those 'impressive support levels' we've offered this season too
plainly, matching the on pitch performances then
my take therefore -
how far have we plummeted ( support wise) in such a short time eh ?
looks to me like we still got 10,000 - 12,000 or so solid fans and about, 15,000 real hard core,
fair weather. johnny cum latelys -then
what other conclusion can you possibly draw when you read stuff like that above ?

To this day since I started watching Stoke in 1997, I have never left the last home match of a season without acknowledging the team's walk around after the final whistle, I'm not about to start now just because we've had a bit of a wank season. But can people please stop moaning about the levels of support or noise that comes from the fans and using it as an excuse for the home results? We pay to be entertained and will cheer rightly if we believe the players deserve to be cheered. If someone puts in a thunderous and fair challenge it will be cheered, if someone chases down the opposition until it forces them to lose possession then I will cheer. I won't spend 90 minutes blindly cheering boring and slow football, and no one should be expected to be. We pay to watch, they are PAYED to perform, do you go to a theatre and have the actors stand around for 10 minutes until they feel the audience have given them enough of a standing ovation? EDIT: Before there is a big response to this I am not saying anyone who does follow and cheer and support no matter what is happening is wrong, as I sing every song no matter what myself, just sick of it being expected that fans should be expected to cheer regardless of performance.

It's not like you to make sweeping generalisations is it? Fair weather, JCL my backside. It's a poor and idle argument. Ive watched Stoke since 1974 and have seen some of the shittest periods in our history and I have never felt so disconnected from the football club. I literally can't wait for the season to be over. With the riches we have I stand by my statement that this is the poorest season since promotion. As soon as the final whistle is over I'm gone. I have no appetite to watch a bunch of underachieving players parade their kids around the ground. If that makes me a fair weather fan so be it.

nope defintiley not a fair weather fan
your 'none de plume' confirms that you are not fair weather
(more, long haul) but
this attitude by our fans is results in -an ever decreasing circle
a self fulfilling prophecy ensues
the team disappoints - the fans dont support - the team disappoints more - the fans lose faith
a half empty stadium 'cant be arsed' fanbase emerges and the team never improves
investement then declines
then we disappear to whence we came -- we collectively

Which comes first though? Do performances improve or fans support a shit showing?
Should one be expected before the other?
As I said the line is drawn in my opinion by the fact that the fans PAY, while the players and manager are PAYED...
