They should be too ashamed as a team and management to have a lap of honour in front of a 3/4s empty stadium. That match sums up the Stoke season. Crap start, a little spurt in the middle and tail off into complete apathy for the rest leaving the fans massively let down and disappointed.
Time for major change

How many times this season have we let in 4? Often enough to suggest the management don't know what they are doing.

Please tell me this is the end of Mark Hughes. If I were this wank at my job I could have no complaints about being handed the old P45. We are as boring as we are shit. This feels like the end of 2012/13 in terms of the levels we've dropped to. We clearly have the players to be a decent side (although a couple want fucking off). It's obvious the manager is the weakest link.

Stoke boss Mark Hughes:Â "We had to chase to the game and we have been picked off going the opposite way. Playing for five minutes isn't enough. We needed to ask more questions.
"We are disappointed as it is always our aim [to finish in the top half of the table]. This is the first time we have missed out. We go against Southampton next week to get points on the board. In the summer we will assess things and maybe change things around."

FFS Hughes, are you really too blind to see what has happened this season & act on it during this season..... There was a time when the team would "die for the cause" against the scum that is Arsenal - today was utterly pathetic. Just what does it take to have 11 players motivated to make a fist of it? This manager has absolutely no clue how to get the team there, either that or he has lost the confidence of the players. Yes, "maybe" seems to me like a half-hearted couldn't care less attitude: akin to "I've got a contract, so pay me off". Being relegated will cost a lot more than paying off this clueless, moribund manager. He's boring to listen to, so what must the players think? Get rid as fast as you can PC - you know it makes sense.

The way football is today, I expect certain fans to shoot from the hip. Before I express my point of view I think it is most important to say that today we played a team of players who were decidedly better than Stoke before we kicked of. I certainly expected to lose! As disappointed as I am with a 4-1 loss I do not think we played as bad as some fans are saying but nevertheless it was a bad loss. I do not think Hughes should be sacked tonight! He deserves more respect than that. No matter what you think he will go down as a manager of our team who have finished ninth in the Premier League three seasons on the trot. No other Stoke manager has achieved that! I do think though that we have arrived at a crisis point where to retain Hughes for next season is far to big of a risk to take. If we try to push on with the same squad and set up next season it has been clearly shown that their are major problems in all aspects of our play. We are conceding and we are not scoring and 64% of our playing squad needs turning over in in the summer. Based on Hughes's success rate in making new transfers I sincerely feel that he cannot be the man charged with taking that responsibility. Everything has gone stale; performance, players attitude, fans attitude, atmosphere and future outlook. I believe that after the season has reached its end Hughes should be sacked but it should be done with the full respect he has earned over his time at the club. I also feel that Mr Coates needs to give serious thought to the people who are involved with recruitment. They have failed abysmally! Next season is a massive season for Stoke City. So much has got to be done in lifting the malaise. Whelan, Walters, Adams and Crouch have been super servants of Stoke City and have been the backbone of the team for a long time. I'm sorry for these guys but time waits for no man. They need to be let down gently. We need young men with their attitude and ability. They are about playing in the English pyramid of football. We have a six or seven players who have great talent but fifty percent of them are unable to cope with the demands of the league. Part of me desperately wants another club to come in with massive offers for Shaqiri and Arnautovic. They are capable of the sublime and don't we all drool when it happens but their attitudes stink and their work rate is so poor. At the moment our squad is totally fragmented. Mr Coates is going to have a very difficult few weeks after today but I expect him to come up with the right answer!

LMH has to go after the Southampton game. New manager in with plenty of time to perform major surgery on the squad. Otherwise I'm afraid we will definitely be in a relegation battle next season. Jokanovic from Fulham for me (obviously if they don't get promoted)

Arsenal are a fantastic side and have beaten better teams than us by 1-4 so to be honest it's not a great shock , they were going for 4th place we are just a 9-15 place team , they have ozil , Sanchez costing nearly 70 million we have a team of misfits and bargain buys with a one or two stars added , you can't go a restaurant and order sirloin and expect to pay for beans on toast

See sky sports ratings on stoke players. I could only disagree with butland, Allen and possibly crouch. Why did Hughes take off Allen and not Whelan - his judgement is so flawed.

If our players give everything and are beaten by a better side no complaints but so many of our performances have been riddled with mistakes poor effort and concentration its simply not acceptable

We were poor but we have been poor for a while now. You also have to give credit to Arsenal who were all the things that I would like us to be. They knew their system, moved the ball quickly, knew the areas we were weakest, got the ball to Sanchez as often as possible and generally played us off the park. How Mr hughes thinks that getting everyone behind the ball and leaving us with no out ball was the way to go, I can only imagine. What do they do and talk about all week? For me things are at a very low ebb and something has to change.
