I think we already have haven't we? He deserves another chance...has he really been that bad? This time last year most of us were purring about him. I think he does deserve another chance but I can see why the manager doesn't trust him. I just think the whole episode sums up the current situation we're in nicely. It could be such a good thing but somehow it went tits up.

Indeed, but with Cameron and Muniesa alongside, I think he will have the protection to play, and not worry too much about the defensive side of his game, which is admittedly atrocious.
Moving forward with the ball he is excellent. Such a waste of talent sitting on the bench doing nothing at the moment.

The Imbula issue has become my biggest problem with Hughes. Countless times since we've last seen Imbula start Hughes has decided to start Adam and Whelan when they have been quite frankly terrible and yet they don't get frozen out.. I don't understand it one bit. Hughes moans about Imbula not "getting to grips" with the premier league but then what on God's earth are Adam and Whelan contributing that is any better? If anything they've been shown up to be useless but with half of the ability that Imbula has.

Unfortunate lot for next seasons preparations it's all about the team finishing as high as we can.
Can't see too many unforced changes this season

Anyway there is no way he can be match fit now He was what we were screaming out for Burnley away Him not coming on told me he wont be playing for us again And no, I don't think Allen is the answer either. Hopefully we will see a better Allen next season because he will have a proper rest this summer, but I still think we are shoe horning him

I'll give up on the 4231 system, we've clearly dropped that one, so guess the next best thing is 442
Grant
Bardsley Shawcross Indi Muni
Shaq Cameron Allen Arnie
Walters Berahino (literally 60 mins again and if he does fuck all, time for Crouch - if this was home game, it would be 100% Crouch, but perhaps just give mobility the nod as its away).

Hughes says some surprise selections are in store - well, some of his team selections recently have been bloody surprising to me (albeit for the wrong reasons!).
If he means trying a few things and giving youngsters a go, then give Muniesa an extended run either at left back (Pieters has been poor for a while now) or in midfield next to Geoff, put Ngoy and Campbell on the bench and give them both 15/20 minutes up front at least once to show what they can do (or, even, scary thought, start one of them!!), maybe even try young Edwards at right back.
If Johnson and Adam really have new deals, and keep getting picked despite a very poor run of form, I do despair as to the team rebuilding and youth development at the club. Both should be gone this summer, alongside several others, if we seriously want to change things.
I will not put what team I think Hughes will play, as it will only depress me, so here is mine:
Grant
Edwards Shawcross Martins Indi Muniesa
Cameron Allen
Ramadan Shaqiri Arnautovic
Ngoy

Whatever the starting XI we need to have a squad playing various ways.
a)The Swansea manager has said this is the most important match in the history of swansea, so presumably they are going to attack us and we need to be capable of hitting them on the break.
b)But if they get ahead then they will probably revert to desperately holding onto a lead and we will need to break them down, something we are pretty poor at, and the only real threat we have is Crouch's headers.
c)If things get desperate for us we need to switch to 3 at the back and put on more attacking players.
Pieters, Johnson, and Adam were poor IMO on Staurday and need a rest, so
Grant Bardsley Shawcross, Indi, Muni Cameron Whelan (missed him when Hull started to take over) Shaqiri Allen Arni Berahino (Keep playing to build his confidence; he must score before the end of the season)
Bench: Butland, Adam, Johnson, Crouch, Walters, Diouf, Ramadan

Who ever is selected, the first goal is absolutely crucial. I recommend two things, first keeping it strong and tight early on and second, getting that first goal! I am sure if we do we will be on our way for a 2 - 0 win. If they get the goal, I fear we may crumble, which means I have. 3/4 hour drive back to Northampton to fume over it all. Let's get our first away goal in 500 minutes and silence the Swans!

An away game when we're on a run of 7 defeats out of the last 9 against a team battling for their lives isn't a game to be starting rookie defenders. To my knowledge, this Edwards chap hasn't even made a match day 18 yet so how can we be so sure that he isn't wank? I'm all for blooding the young lads but it needs to be done appropriately.
Whelan isn't the guy for this sort of game and neither is Allen. We need some mobility in midfield and the ability to keep the ball as they're likely to come at us. We saw against Leicester, Spurs etc just how Whelan can't compete against attacking teams who have legs in midfield. Allen for me is a bit of a headless chicken who doesn't track his runner and gives away far too much ball. We need to go there tomorrow, keep the ball and look to put them on the back foot. If we deploy our technically limited players then they'll just come at us and we'll be on the wrong end of another 4 nil.

In the press Allen is often described as Stokes player of the season. Could people who are paid to write about football actually know more about it that some Oatcake posters?
The problem is we're on game 34 of the season and Hughes still doesn't know his preferred formation or starting 11.

..................Grant.................. Bards...Shawcross......Indi.......Pieters ...........Cameron....Allen............... Shaq............Ramadan...........Arnie.. ................Berahino................. If Allen isn't fit I would keep trying the experiment with Muni alongside Geoff. I've got a feeling we'll see Johnson, Whelan and Walters in the starting line up though, not bad alternatives, but I think my line up looks more exciting!

If we are going to give Imbula a chance, it makes sense to do it inan away game, he is much more effective when he can power past people into space. He has put in some great performances away from home.
