South West France. St Emilion. I remember sitting on a terrace in st Emilion looking down the dordogne river valley , with a glass of the local plonk thinking it was the most beautiful place I'd ever seen Sitting on the hotel terrace above the square on a summer's evening listening to the birds and general chatter with a glass of wine and taking in the smells from the cafés below. Heaven.

Spent the whole morning on a hidden sandy bay with my wife on Guernsey
We'd been their from 9:30 am until 12:30 and not a sole around
Great views and lovely weather
Didn't really want to leave but, she's a greedy bastard and wanted to shovel some chips down her.

The Dordogne valley is wonderful, I remember the turtles on the river.

She must have been walking like a crab after having all that sand stuffed up her tuppence... you've just reminded me, South georgia, what a beautiful wild place, I was roaming around when one of these buggers arched up from the long grass and bellowed out with a breath that smelt like the waste bins from grimsby docks.

In the U.K. I love Bakewell. No supermarkets and access to wonderful countryside and not far from the Potteries. In Europe, I like Lisbon. A wonderful setting and friendly people. Compact, easy to get around and lively cultural scene. Globally, I thought Rio de Janeiro takes some beating. Stunning setting and beaches and very lively culture (but beware pickpockets etc.)

The Algarve Golden Triangle and in Britain there's a little slither of land in Fife that's quite special.

Florida, especially the keys area One of the best views I had in Florida was lying on the man made beach around the pool at blizzard beach watching the baywatch lookalike life guards regularly crossing my view
