I'd rather Vale pull off a miraculous escape, make it all the way to the Prem and win it, and Smurf then fucks every bird I've ever been with and ever will be with.

When they say 'Stoke' being heavily interested, are they talking about Hughes or somebody else?

I wouldn't touch Terry with a bloody barge pole. He's 36-years-old, well past his best, and would still want a good wage to come here. To sign him would require either the sale of Muniesa or Shawcross, or for us not to sign Bruno Martins Indi, and I can honestly say I'd take any of them over Terry right now.
The fact that he's a horrible human being, a slimy little prat and (worse of all) a racist, doesn't help either.

Annoyingly, you know that he'd probably be a good player to have around and that he's not as awful a person as his reputation (and our treatment of him) would suggest, but it really would be far too much of a climb down to welcome him here with open arms.
As an aside, is this another indication that Hughes will stay? First there's the Johnson contract, now were being seriously touted for players. I don't recall this stuff at the back end of Pulis' last season, although somebody did make the decision to release a load of our players on free transfers before Hughes arrived.
On the flip side, this could be our counter to Ryan conjuring up interest from other teams, and could all be a part of the wrangling over a new contract.

When they say 'Stoke' being heavily interested, are they talking about Hughes or somebody else? Paul, are you suggesting another manager is lined up and has authorised the extension of Johnson and the pursuit of Terry?

Do we really need another aging, injury prone old head around - regardless of his pedigree? No doubt it would cost silly money in wages.
We should be aiming for younger prospects.

Sent from my SM-G928F using proboards He's not injury prone ....he lost his place through injury and never got it back He won't come to Stoke anyway I reckon as he's destined for an LA/New York type club

Benitez is the link A very long shot but a disappointing finish, possibly frustrated players won't be going down well with PC A mix of youth and experience can be beneficial BUT we need to attract and retain young talent. Most urgent is the need to retain our very best players In PC we trust

I'd be more than happy to invite Terry to lift the next trophy we win if it meant we didn't sign him.

There is also a link with Ranieri (signed Johnson for Chelsea and worked with Terry there). Ranieri is available now for nothing. He has worked under a Technical Director before, whereas Benitez is notoriously spikey with those and demands total control - something the club have moved slightly away from under the previous manager.
Ranieri also comes across as someone who is a bit meek and mild with regards to transfer funds and will be happy with what he got.
If, and it's a big if, there is a link with the players we are linked with and signing then i'd be more inclined to think it would be Ranieri over Benitez.
I still don't think Coates will go foreign though either way.
There is also the not so small link with our current manager! He signed Johnson for us and played with Terry.
2 + 2 = 5 for me.

Take him in a heartbeat. Could show shawcross and co how to defend set pieces properly, rather than give the opposition a free header eg. Llorente on saturday.
The determination and will to win he displays is everything our backline is currently lacking (bruno exempt). Imagine playing 3-5-2. Terry, bruno, muniesa/shawcross as your 3 centre backs, certainly better thanany options we currently have

You can see this on a number of levels. Perhaps would come under Hughes as a defensive coach maybe + a player possibly a proviso by Coates. Or as a number 2/player coach if various rumours about Raneiri are correct?. He would know well Crouch from his England days, Raneiri from Chelsea link and Johnson.. Could see some mileage in this.

No! JT isn't old enough! Though ownership of a walking stick could prove entitlement to a 1 yr contract + 1yr extension (naturally)!

Be a fantastic signing for us leadership , still a fantastic defender and goals from set pieces at the right end , I'd have him here tomorrow .

Same here, can defend a set piece too which is where we cant. Don't think I've ever seen a centre half in world football who can defend the near post as well as terry. Would love him here.

He's a natural leader. He and Martins Indi would be great but at 36, he's too old :(

Times reporting today that Terry is about to embark on the most lucrative season of his career. £100k a week and £5 million signing on fee. Three Premier League clubs interested, Stoke City, West Brom and Bournemouth.
Please no!
