We should be going balls out to sign Bruno. Would be disappointed to see him leave.

John Terry was is a great defender of his generation but i think he is a little to old at 36 now. We need to do whatever it takes to sign Bruno he has a great partnership and understanding with Ryan

What's the point in signing a defender for one season, he's also looking to start games too. We should go for Indi and Terry can sod right off

We must be fearful about Indi going elsewhere though. He's not exactly rushing to join, is he?
As has been mentioned, Koeman managed him for 3 seasons at Feyenoord, and that must be worrying us

As has been mentioned, Koeman managed him for 3 seasons at Feyenoord, and that must be worrying us So Terry would be a good option? We need someone to come in long-term and create a partnership with Shawcross. Like Indi has, and Huth too. Terry would be a one year deal, with option to extend one more year. Not the ideal position to be in. If we don't get Indi, we should look for a CB around the same age

Personally think if Indi goes then Terry would be a perfect stop gap,Sweeney aaint ready for the prem take the tinted glasses off and gives him another season to progress.

If we can't sign Indi then we need another CB of a similar age to BMI to come in and be a long term player.
We shouldn't be signing a stop gap to replace the stop gap.
It's a dangerous game with CBs.

Defence is what worries me most re our manager. We have a back four that literally picks itself week in week out. No viable backup in any positions. The back four that picks itself is either ageing or injury prone and we want to add a 36-year-old to the wage bill, which will presumably stop another younger CH coming in.
That said he would be really good for the changing room and a good choice as a defensive coach. I would welcome him as the assistant manager to Hughes and it may be the perfect partnership

Would he be great for the changing room? Rio Ferdinand and Wayne Bridge wouldn't agree. Mark Bowen might not agree either!

I see the sense in this. At the start of the season the defence was appalling. The focus on defence seemed lacking (I would guess there was something in Marc Wilson's early-season strop). No only that, our defensive injuries have left us pretty exposed at times this year, and last year ...and the year before for that mater. So you have to suspect that Hughes doesn't want to make those mistakes again. Ideally you go and buy a couple of great defenders with premiership experience, currently in their twenties. But, they are almost as rare as 20 goal per season forwards. Alternatively, you bring in a rock solid defender like Terry and speculate as well, with a punt on a bit of youth and dynamism. Terry is a great option. Any two of Shawcross, Terry and Martins-Indi at the back would fill me with a lot of confidence - or as a back three. Putting his personal habits to one side, I would love to have Terry at Stoke.

Lets face it - Stoke is a Shithole And so the myth continues, not helped by Stokies who like to put the boot into their home town... if they do come from here in the first place. I've travelled the length and breadth of the UK and know most cities very well, and Stoke is no diferent than anywhere else except the really posh places that are not really industrialised. In fact Stoke is making a come-back and progressing as a city, not to mention that a 15/30 minute drive from the city will see you in some of the most beautiful countryside in the UK. So which cities are not a 'shithole'? London, Birmingham, Manchester, Sheffield, Liverpool, Leeds, Bristol, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Glasgow, Cardiff, etc. The slums in most of those places make Bentilee look like Monaco. OS. Absolutely spot on OS, I love walking around our city when I visit and will be doing so all this week :) So much to see and do, people just need to open their eyes a bit. Right about the come-back as well mate, 3rd fastest growing city economy since 2009 and one of the top ten European Cities for infrastructure in 2012. Think it was named the best City for Urban Walking by some chap not so long ago too. And the people, by and large, are fantastic when it comes to being friendly. Lots to be positive about imo.

As has been mentioned, Koeman managed him for 3 seasons at Feyenoord, and that must be worrying us Yes we need a 'Plan B' don't we if Bruno won't sign. If he wants to work for Koeman and Everton convince him they are going places (which they may well be) and they are willing to match the money we offer then I don't see there is a whole lot we can do about it. Equally if what Bruno said about wanting to live by the sea is true and one of the Southern European teams with a warm climate and some nice beaches come knocking then again we are probably snookered. John Terry would be stop gap and not Plan B, and I'm not convinced any of our kids are ready, we need a proper Plan B

No reason for us to sign John Terry at all. He's too old and quite frankly a cunt.
Should be going for Bruno, and then a young centre back to cover him & Shawx (can Muni stay)

But maybe now he is a bit older and wiser he would behave himself. Hughes needs a bit of help in the defensive department and he might just be a nice fit. He would have to come as a coach 1st and not prevent us from getting somebody younger in that position

This is an odd one. He'll only want to leave Chelsea to get first team football and he'll want massive wages. It doesn't look like Indi wants to come here however he'll hold out as long as he can making a decision hoping someone comes and offers him something better.
Terry has been a fantastic defender and probably still is but he's not mobile these days, so I can't see a partnership of him and Shawcross working well unless there's two sitting defensive midfielders in front of them. IF Indi does go Muniesa should be Shawcross' first choice partner, he was putting in some brilliant performances at the start of the season. Then as back up we have GCam, and possibly Sweeney if he's good enough, if not then I'd look for someone else.
For me Terry isn't worth the risk. I also wouldn't p**s on him if he was on fire.
