How do we know St. P. is on the panel. Cannot find it confirmed anywhere on net? Dimbo mentioned it on air at the end of last nights episode.

Keep off Peter, stick to running a football club, you might lose some of your friends with what you say! Might have footballing matters to sort at the time. I think he will be measured in any response he gives, he really comes across as man who gives careful considered responses and thinks about what he is saying, you don't run/own two of the worlds largest brands by being a complete buffoon, case in point is the fat man at the vale, he talks lots of shit and therefore owns lots of shit!

Ooh that'll be a good watch. I'd love to hear more about Coates' politics. Stinkin' rich Labour donors are few and far between.

I know it's not allowed it's own thread on here (keeps getting merged with the Sutton v Arsenal match thread) but for sure 'piegate' will come up in the broader context of the cosy relationship between gambling companies and football and Dimbleby will put Pete first in the hot seat for that one!

Interesting that Coates is on QT tomorrow, should be a good listen. Who else is on?
Was asked today at work whether anyone wanted to be on the Newsnight program tonight. Apparently they'e doing a by-election special. Fortunately I have some paint that needs watching dry this evening.

Given how poorly Gareth Snell seems to have come across to many voters, and the football/Hillsborough issues hanging over Nutjob, the statesmanlike, balanced performance I'd expect from Sir Peter might swing this. He can remind a few people why this area's been a Labour powerhouse for so many years, and how many important beliefs about community underlie that - however much opportunistic right-wing populists try to undermine us with angry, divisive, scapegoating politics and easy answers that simply don't exist. Personally I'm proud this city's allowed PC to prosper and put so much back into the community - and that he's stuck by his Labour convictions all through, not changed his coat like so many. Vis Unita Fortior.

Jock Stein Bill Shankly Brian Clough Alex Ferguson Peter Coates All lifelong members of the Labour Party. The Oatcake doesn't reflect the views of people who live in Stoke on Trent who are wise & thoughtful when they vote Brexit but small minded & bigoted when they vote Labour.

I read somewhere it was Justine Greening, Angela Raynor. Douglas Carswell and Isabel Oakenshot. Real political heavyweights then. Who exactly are any of them? Justine Greening: Secretary of State for Education, MP for Putney Angela Raynor: Shadow Secretary of State for Education, MP for Ashton-under-Lyne (Labour) Douglas Carswell: MP for Clacton (UKIP) Isabel Oakeshott: Political journalist & broadcaster Peter Coates: English businessman & chairman of Stoke City FC

I do think Coates talks too much in general.
But he and his family are an almighty player (the biggest or should be) in the city.
I fear he'll get ripped apart on here though with lots of ummms and rrrrrrs. But I hope not as the UKIP chap in particular is a right twat.
