I really thought in the last round that the yawn inducing Manure v Wigan wasn't going to be live but BBC or the FA decided it was much more appealing to viewers than the Lincoln game. So to the 5th round and the classic Blackburn v Manure gets the vote ahead of what would have been a much more interesting Hudders v ManCity.
Yes yes yes I know it's about TV audience size ratings advertising blah blah blah...still pisses me off

Out of any of the so called giants I have no interest whatsoever in watching Manure in the cup.

Think this run of games spreads back as far as 2005 and think this will be the 57th consecutive game shown ffs

Apparently the BBC did ask if they could do the Lincoln game and the FA told them in no uncertain terms to show Utd v Hull. The source on that was Gary 'The Crisp-Peddler by the way.

Didn't they pull out of it one year so they could go play abroad somewhere

It is simple, their games draw a much bigger TV audience than any other club is able to do so. Their lack of success in recent seasons is why subscriber numbers to Sky and BT have been in decline, Spurs and Leicester don't draw the punters in compared to Man Utd and Liverpool

Most people want to watch the big teams play. No-one cares about Man City or Huddersfield.

Disgraceful from the FA much needed TV money for Lincoln going the way of global brand Manure. Feckin FA....Fucking Arses! Whilst they asked that's not the full story. The BBC decided not to risk showing Ipswich v Brighton and decided to play it safe by choosing the Man Utd v Wigan game. To grow a pair of balls and ask to cover the Lincoln game after the certainties of replays would have had knock on effects to other games. No one to blame but the BBC, their cowardice and the complete lack of faith they have in the romance of the FA cup they continually blather on about.

This record will end of course - when they draw Stoke next year I can't believe they have been on 57 times on the trot though, where has that number come from

My brother in law lives near Spalding, Lincolnshire.
He's a big ManUre fan. He's been to Old Trafford ONCE in his life.
He and now THREE other members of his family (not my sister in law from Stoke, who couldn't give a shit about football) eagerly await and TV watch every ManUre game.
In a nutshell, that's why the BBC and every other TV company screen every ManUre game they can.
Whether we Stoke City fans like it or not this situation will carry on ad infinitum. It's all about audience numbers.

I think someone asked Gary Neville about this on Twitter and he brought up the viewing statistics.
Apparently the viewing figures for United / Wigan were 8 times larger than Sutton / Leeds.
I'm not saying that it's right, but from a business perspective it makes sense for the TV companies to air teams or games that will attract the biggest audiences.
