Forget for a second whether you think we're getting too many injuries under Hughes. Does anyone else get pissed off with the blatant lack of openness from the management over injuries? We're regularly told that players have a bit of soreness or a tweak or strain that may keep them out of the next match or a week or two and then we don't see them again for 6 weeks or a few months. We've been fobbed off that every time Butland has had a setback it's been 'minor', same with Ryan and his back last season. Feel like we're being bullshitted and treated like kids when you don't want them to know how serious a problem is so you just tell them everything's fine. i am amazed the club say as much as they do. i always think we are giving too much away to the opposition, I would understand if we were told next to nothing.

I live in Hatton. I smell the coffee smell from Nestle every day. Does that mean I do think Bego will sign or I don't? The smell needs to be supplemented with cow dung. If so then yes. I'm even more confused now because the farmer's been slurrying in the field opposite. Are you surveilling my house? Is that you, the bloke who looks like Bego, who's been standing at the bus stop for 4 hours? Bastard buses are unreliable round here.

It is merely "of interest" to us whereas it can be strategically important to club regarding opposition approach to game, negotiations for replacement players etc. I think we should be told "Jack Butland is injured" and told that "he will be playing/on the bench today" when he is fit again. What the heck are we going to do if we know "he has a minor sprain of the left whatchamacallit and will be out for approximately 18.3 day" ? Volunteer to give him whatchamacallit massages every 5 minutes?

Dina worry we've got grant all tied up , well actually we haven't and he isn't good enough anyway but hey ho happy Xmas mr scholes another triumph of organisation and strategic thinking. ,Iets all play New Years chicken with derby and West Brom throughout January and come up a last minute loan signing on the 31st , there you go next years stratfgoc plan sorted . Hey Benji, I didn't know you can speak Swahili. Good comments, I agree that Scholes is the best CEO in the PL except when he becomes Mr. Hyde and sneaks around injuring our players.

Well given that if you want to transact with the club they require to know your address, age, credit card details and the size of your cock (or did I dream the last one) then only reasonable they should tell us things. In terms of the "opposition" it's only material in respect of someone selling us or loaning us cover knowing we are in the shit as regards to goalkeeping resource (and therefore jack the asking price). Had we managed our squad well enough to have a credible number 2 GK in the first place the knowledge would be of significantly less value.

Pies are available on the concourse. Transport to the ground can be x, y or z." etc. Are you suggesting that because you "transact" with say British rail that they should tell you that "engine with Serial Number 123456789 has developed a blocked thingamajig and is anticipated to be in for repairs for a month."? You "transact" to watch Stoke play. Stoke tells you when and where they are playing. More importantly, what would you do with all this detailed information you expect? And finally as an aside, I realize UK is socialized medicine and is different to USA, but aren't their laws governing patient privacy? Maybe Butland does not want the world to know that his career may be hanging on by a thread? (And I am not saying it is!)

No - because firstly British Rail doesn't exist anymore and secondly Southern Rail/Virgin (delete franchise as applicable) doesn't actively encourage any emotional engagement (eg I remember Liam Lawrence phoning me at home - well a recorded message at least - telling me I was the team's 12th man). I respect Jack Butlands patient privacy and therefore do not need to know the detail - but in the same way that if I go to see - say - Placebo - in concert I might like to know that Brian Molko may not be singing on that particular tour - I do think availability of players is of significant interest to fans.

Is that going to make any difference whatsoever to your decision making/activities today?

It is continually analysed and being lioked at. Cameron's had tonsilitis etc. I'm not blaming you for that btw. Afellay and Bardsley to return soon. Ryan and Bojan seem to be doing ok under the pantomime medical set up etc. Finger pointing with little current justification nor need imo. He's out for another 2-3 weeks. So that'll be the best part of 2 months from the original week away diagnosis. Afellay is back in the squad after 63 minutes of football. Which is laughable too. Bojan has struggled for form and fitness since his injury and Ryan struggled massively last year and is picking up stuff that he never did before. There's lots of justification. We're in the midst of another injury crisis. The third year in a row. It shouldn't happen and when it does questions need to be asked of what we do. Ffs! Do you ever stop griping? You are a complete and utter bore man.

Not Hughes's fault in any way, obviously, but questions need to be asked of the medical team about this and many other issues that have plagued us since when Pulis was here.
I know of no other club with an injury record as atrocious as ours.
As has been mentioned above "he took a knock and will miss this weekend's game as a precaution" suddenly becomes "err, where is he, three months later?".
Now they miss a stress fracture FFS.
If nobody is asking questions about all this then the club is in deep trouble.

But surely a stress fracture doesn't need surgery but rather rest/recovery?

You cannot just accept "it's just one of those things", especially not at this level. This is supposed to be a Premier League club, providing the best medical care for its greatest assets, the players. Missed a stress fracture? It beggars bloody belief. And it was external "specialists", then whoever picked them needs to be held to account. As do the specialists themselves.

As well as all the football experts on Oatcake, we now have lots of medical, fitness, and training experts, none of whom personally ever missed something or made a mistake in their own jobs. The next thing you know somebody will come on here trying to teach me about coke.

Our medical team dont do scans, they are given the results, but Im sure our medical team will be having discussions with the facility who did the scans, this should be an integral part of the clubs management discussions. Put some liquid into your glass, and at least get it to half full

Our medical's used to be a standing (or probably sitting in view of some of the crocks who passed them) joke. In this case it's far from funny. In many ways we are Sunday League off the pitch.

Do you actually know anything about the interpretation of MR Scans? Do you have any sort of medical degree? Do you have any sort of Imaging degree? If the answer to these questions is no then can I respectively ask why you are slagging the club and medical team off.

We've had a fuck load of injuries that start as nothing and end up with players that are out for months. Or come back for a few games and then are out again a few weeks later. You don't anything more than to take your red and white tinted specs off to see something isn't right in that area.

I don't think you can say anything more than we've has very bad luck with injuries. Having older players and players with a very poor recent history of being fit and available to play just exacerbates your normally expected injury toll. If you were betting for instance whether Johnson, Affelay, Ireland were going to be available for the majority of games in a season the odds against would be pretty bloody high, all good players, all walking injuries for the last five seasons.
