I hope he is soon found safe and well. The police are great in these situations and will be doing all they can. Hopefully their theory is wrong Sadly depression is wholly misunderstood and pressures, especially on males, to bottle it up are immense I suffer from (very) mild depression, despite the I have nothing to be depressed about Even in my mild form it can be flipping debilitating Luckily I wear my heart on my sleeve and have an amazing wife who puts up with a lot Come home soon Joshua

You know its so much worse when, as you say "have nothing to be depressed about" because its so difficult to work out what changes you can make to combat it. PS Dogs are great for depression, can't really do much for themselves they get you up and out and doing things and love you to bits without asking too many questions.

It's been three days now, not looking too good is it? I didn't like the bit at the end about the suspicion that he may have taken a "harmful substance" and that no physical contact should be made with the lad due to possible "substance transfer".
You must be out of your mind with worry, Boother, as must all Josh's family and friends. Thinking of you all at this terrible time. Let's hope he is found safe.

Cats do the same for my mrs she suffers with mild depression ,I think its the fact that pets pretty much love you unconditionally and dont judge you so they provide an element of secruity. Hope he turns up soon

Afternoon folks, cheers for all the well wishes. Unfortunately, the generally accepted consensus is that we're looking for a body. Going through his stuff and emails he's obviously been planning this for a while, and as for the "harmful substance", well, he wasn't mucking about, put it that way.
Just another appeal though for people in the Stone area to be vigilant, it's obviously not a pleasant thing to have to ask people to do, but obviously the quicker he's found the better for all his friends and family.
Thanks again.

Very sad story; in this day & age, its so easy for people to contact loved ones - what with mobiles, internet etc. If somebody isn't found within 24 hrs, its hard to be optimistic
Lets hope & pray, this is one of those rare cases that bucks the trend
half the problem is that there just isn't the support out there for people in desperate need, with services & mental health budgets slashed. Funny how they always find the money to drop a bomb on someone abroad though.
Stay positive if you can but brace for the worst, people on here are thinking about this young man

It never ceases to amaze me how much money we can find for interfering in things that don't concern us but caring for our own people is always the thing under strain be it mental illness, old age, or just plain unfortunate. We don't seem to struggle for funds when it comes to international aid/development, speading joke democracy or economic or political migrants but born and bred here you and your family paid taxes etc into the system for decades and all of a sudden you're a financial drain.

IMHO, you are the bottom of the pile if youre white, male, straight & single (unless of course youre in the army, then they have a use for you). If you found yourself homeless, good luck on getting any housing. As I said, its for another thread though.

Do't want to say take from one to give to another. End of the day there's plenty to share around if spent wisely. How much do premier league players earn? How much goes to the lottery? How much gets spent on olympic sports? How much gets spent on cancer research that doesnt seem to bring any end result? How much do we spend on conditions in prisons? Its fucked up.

Thoughts are with you Boother and everyone connected to Josh. I hope he's found soon. Seeking professional help is always preferable if you think you're suffering from depression, but reaching out to anyone who will listen is invaluable, although it is incredibly hard to do for some. There are plenty of charities and organisations out there that can help - there are some good ones in this link and I can recommend both The Samaritans and CALM, a mental health charity focused on supporting men. Most provide services absolutely free of charge.

Afternoon all, I know this is the footy board but I'll get more people seeing this here. Josh went to walk to work in Stone yesterday at 8am but never got there, it's like he's completely vanished off the face of the earth. Naturally all his family and friends are incredibly concerned. If you've seen him or notice him around could you please inbox me and/or let the police know? There's a picture of him on the link, I'll put a proper one into a post later but can't figure out how to do it on my phone. m.stokesentinel.co.uk/appeal-have-you-seen-missing-man-joshua-smith-27-from-stone/story-29842422-detail/story.htmlThanks all. Fingers crossed mate. Thoughts with you and all concerned.
