Sounded dead loud throughout on the telly.
Even Phil Thompson mentioned it on Soccer Saturday.

Our support was excellent and when we were singing swing low some of their fans applauded it after.Just wish we could get back to this level of support at home on a regular basis as well

We were great but we should have taken more fans. Totally agree with the that mate and what bought it home for me is the empty seats when the 1st goal went in but each to their own. What it won't do though is take away from a truely top away day out

It really annoys me when we don't sell out, we are so lucky to be as central in the county as we are and apart from money there really is no excuse.

Mate I work shifts some weekends and I can sometimes get swaps so I understand it can be difficult for some folk but number wise yesterday I have to say I was scratching my head when I heard we'd only sold 1800

Was Smudge one of them? Vocal support sounded great on the video streaming.

Support really was tremendous yesterday..no one does taking the piss better than us. Also, during the 5 mins when we were singing swing low non stop, there was a pause in play when one of their players was down. Pieters was on the near side right by the fans and started just staring in awe at the away fans looking as if he was about to start tearing up. Class support, and a real connection between all the players and fans which is what we are all about. Onwards and upwards.

Some days when I read this board I actually think we have the worst supporters or some of the worst! Then I listen to the game on the wireless and think fuck we have some of the best supporters around, yesterday you were 1st class and not just now and again it was 1st class for 90 minutes, to those that were there I salute you!

Persuaded myself to get up there yesterday a few weeks ago - was undecided. It was unreal. Bruised shins, insane noise for 90 minutes. I was overly excited for West Ham anyway, now I'm absolutely buzzing. So glad we now have a decent song for Joe that everbody blasted out. Unreal once again, roll on West Ham.

Agreed..
We're sometimes quick to criticise our away support but they were fantastic yesterday.
Was sat directly opposite amongst the Hull fans with a couple of mates and they were in awe of both our noise levels and variety of song.. they managed a few muted minutes of Slade but that was about it..
There was a row of 4 or 5 Stokies in front of us who did get up when Shaq bent in the 2nd.. a few grumbles from the locals but no aggression.
They were laughing at Swing Low and also complimentary about the team.. thought Annie, Joe and Shaq looked frightening at times.. Disappointed with Bony but hey, we have some proper talent these days..
Onto the Tax Payers Stadium.. going to be a great day..

I'm an armchair fan nowadays but in my youth I would have jumped at the chance to get free transport to away games and would have gone everywhere, so what do people want nowadays to travel...... a free ticket as well?

Post by walrus on Oct 23, 2016 13:27:44 GMT
Unfortunately for non-SOT-based fans, the free travel doesn't help. Once you have a £30 match ticket, train travel or petrol to wherever the game is, food and drink etc, you're looking at a bare minimum £50 day out, and often significantly more. For many, that's just not a viable expenditure every other weekend for nine months a year, so away trips have to be a treat, not a regular occurrence.

An away day is about more than just the match. The free coaches are great for people who want to go straight to the game & come straight back home afterwards, but are absolutely useless for people who like to go by train & have a few beers en route & on the way back. Rather than just free coaches it should be free travel, I'm sure the clubs could come to some arrangement with the rail companies whereby showing your match ticket gets you on the trains for nowt.

I just think we have a lot of fans who can't be arsed which let's us down.
