This I know to be true. As reported he faces a very uncertain future at Man City as Pep doesn't seem to fancy him at all.
I'm sure we won't be the only club to enquire but may be the fact that sparky signed him at citeh, may sway it in our favour who knows. I know I'd chuffing well have him here. Beast of a man if he can stay fit.
Believe it, don't believe it, I onner arsed but thought I'd share with the masses.

It's a good call and it was indeed Hughes who signed him at Man City
Can't spot a defender apparently

Of course it's a no brainer if he can show some regular fitness through training, but you'd have to worry slightly if we were expecting/hoping Komany and Shawcross to be in the side week-in, week-out.

You'd have to think that a host of teams with European football would be after him. I can only see location in our favour sadly.

This is a tough one as of course, Id love him at Stoke. That injury record though….

I suggested this in August but I was told to "get real", however now I'm not so sure we need another crock in the squad TBH and I'd much sooner we made an attempt at signing Trippier from Spuds to challenge our already aging and injury prone RB's. Even if he came as a free transfer his wages would be huge and given his recent injury record wouldn't you prefer we went for another Indis type signing or even scout the championship for an upcoming young CB. oatcakefanzine.proboards.com/thread/259497/vincent-kompanyGouranga.

I'm as optimistic as the next man but I can't see a player of Kompany's quality joining us any time soon, isn't the guy captain of City and Belgium when fit? Obviously over the last few years he's been crogged more than he's played but surely his wages are, I dunno, £150,000 a week? Double what we would pay. Perhaps if he fancies staying in England and no other prem team takes the gamble on him (unlikely) he'd be tempted, but even that's not taking all the top European clubs who's be interested into account.
Can't see it myself but he's one of the best defenders in world football, I'd take him in a heartbeat.

Also, Pep's lost his marbles if reports are to be believed. What manager in world football wouldn't want Sergio Aguero? bizarre. We should move in for him as well and send Bony back.

Do we need him?
It'd break a solid partnership and it would be for someone who imo will never get over this injury problem he has.

I wouldn't want to break up the Shawcross / Martins Indi partnership either. That said, speaking to some Belgian supporters over the summer they seemed to think Kompany would excel switching back into his old defensive midfield role at this stage in his career (if fit)

Some of you wouldn't have kompany? Mind boggling!!! Why? He plays where Shawcross does. I don't want Shawcross replacing. He's not going to be happy as back up. I don't want him. Dead easy.

Steer well clear if you ask me but it wouldn't surprise me in the least. Its exactly the sort of thing that has me questioning Hughes future. The last thing we need is more fucking old players no matter how good they used to be.

Some of you wouldn't have kompany? Mind boggling!!! He's been injured for 2 years. We have a solid partnership between Shawcross and Indi developing which could last the next 5 or so years. If we can sign Indi permanently, we don't need Kompany.

Are we talking loan or signing? If it's a permanent deal I'd rather the club went all out to get Bruno here on a permanent deal than Kompany so yes Isuppose I am turning my nose at Kompany!

So we wouldnt want him because hes been injured for two years. But hughes is vilified for getting rid of huth who was injured for two years and is then injury free hindsight and all that.

We'd face stiff competition to get him but he'd be a top, top signing if we can somehow pull it off.

No we wouldn't want him because the squad is already top heavy with old players and also we have learned from our experience with Johnson who's been excellent when fit but just isn't reliable and his absences disrupt the team. Personally I would say you don't want more than 2 or 3 over 30's tops and those should be players without long injury records.
