Christ he looked bang on it today. Thought manager got it spot on today, and over the moon to see us look solid, keep a clean sheet, but also play some great football at times! Onwards and upwards.

No changes now Mark. Let this team settle and gel and mature like a fine ale.

That block in the first half was crucial. Seems to be throwing himself at things like he once did.....back must be good.👍

Surely not a good selection, all the so called "experts" on here were calling it shit before kick-off i find it hard to believe they could be wrong?

Shawcross was superb
The defence is looking much better now that the midfield is more organised.

He looked as though he is moving completely freely now, a contrast to earlier in the season. Please stay fit and we will really start motoring soon.

Form (and injuries) are temporary.
Class is permanent.

He was superb alongside Bruno again. That tackle in the first half to deny Defoe was fantastic

No no no he's past it the oatcake said so! I thought he was back to his best, solid as a rock, and that challenge/block first half proved it for me!

Made a few blocks but that's to be expected. I loved the way he read most things that Sunderland did. Him and Bruno have a partnership in the making.

I think I heard the presenter on Five Live (who were based at our ground for their coverage) say he saw Sammy Lee taking a seat in front of him just before the game. I guess he'll be giving Southgate a glowing report then?

He's finished apparently and needs fucking off! H Yes I thought it was clear to everyone on here he was finished. Couldn't possibly be after a long injury he needed time to come back to his best? No in Oatcake land everything has to happen immediately

Funny what a (good) consistent player will do to a CB. He was brilliant today, not far off his brilliant best. I notice his back was completely strapped up though. He'll never get over that injury.

Indi wiped Ryan's bottom today. Dealt with everything. Indi was excellent but I didn't see it like that at all. They worked superbly as a pairing and complemented each other perfectly.

He was excellent today.
It's definitely helping the defence now that the opposition aren't able to waltz through the midfield at will.

It helps having a partner you can trust, and not looking over his shoulder worrying what the keeper is gonna do. He's got his head in his own game now and it shows. Definitely getting back to his best.
Truth is he was never as bad as people on here made out though was he?
