One tackle in particular was immense. Timing, cleanness of the challenge. Perfection!

The two centre halves and the goalkeeper were solid today. No real hairy moments I can think of save the Defoe chance that Ryan blocked.

Indi wiped Ryan's bottom today. Dealt with everything. Indi was excellent but I didn't see it like that at all. They worked superbly as a pairing and complemented each other perfectly. That's kind of what I meant. Sorry for the horrible picture.

What a block. what a fucking block. You won't see many better. Ever. My moment of the season so far. Incredible old school Shawcross.

Looked more confident than I've seen him look since his last injury.
It was only Sunderland and they were monumentally shit. But Defoe's always given us problems, so he had to be alert, and thankfully he was.
He looked more positive at attacking set pieces today as well. Still didn't get near to any of them, but that was more to do with the poor delivery rather than his positioning.
Definitely more like the Ryan of old.

He definitely looked like he wanted it more today on the attacking front. That incident was the first time he attacked the ball rather than letting the ball hit his head and loop harmlessly forward The main thing was that he really looked like the Ryan of old today.

The current two at centre half must not be split up at all.
Whatever Porto want in January to make it permanent, we should pay with no questions asked. He is a huge upgrade on Huth.

His demise had been massively exaggerated anyway.
But now he can focus on his game and not on the clown playing alongside him.
MOM today for me.

Sarah Hughes Celebration? I hope Porto's transfer team are infinitely more negligent than ours, we manage to find a loop hole in the pre/post Brexit movement laws and because we've introduced him to oatcakes and we've found him a nice gaff and paid him some wages, we get him on a free. I'm amazed at how comfortably he's fitted in. etc. Great to see the whole Ryan arm waving/communicating stuff going on today. Really noticeable, and effective, so I reckon it has been absent.

Obviously Sunderland are poor so that helped but he not only played excellently but looked the most comfortable physically he has done for two years.
