Never understood why people say you have to be plastered to enjoy a kebab. I love em' without tanking myself up with ale!
I'm currently awaiting the delivery of a lamb kebab served on a naan bread. Best one I ever tasted was in Turkey on the beach front in Ölüdeniz. Yummy!

Yummy![/quote Had one recently in Cyprus,it was pork and the Greek Cypriots call them Souvlakia ( not sure about the spelling there ) ....they get pretty irate if you call them kebabs as they are a Turkish thing especially as Cyprus is partitioned because of the Turkish invasion in 1974....it was pretty tasty I have to say .

A well cooked kebab where the doner meat is just a little bit crispy is just incredible, with garlic mayo and a good squeeze of lemon, and hold the salad, seriously, if i'm gonna feast on that bad boy do you really think I need salad...nope...more doner in lieu of that salad rubbish.

Done properly they're great. Salad and extra chillies for me please. There's a purpose built space behind the cylinders and below the carbs on a RD250 for keeping them hot. Bike long gone, shame. Something else to blame on my ex wife.

Spot on. One of my not so good decisions shall we say. Still got my full bike licence, so who knows. 😀

And Oludeniz is an excellent place, love it there.

I remember when the first kebab house opened at the top of town road in anley. Delicious. I don't remember it, though I've heard tell of a kebab 'bus' up by the Place. My first kebab was Persepolis on Cheapside/Piccadily. The best kebab and first time trying the minted yoghurt thing was in Liverpool mid 80's, Pete Wylie of the Mighty Wah! in the queue. I've never had one sober.

I've never had one sober. I only have vague memories of it cheees but I remember it was the first. Must have been about 1983/84. It wasn't open that long and had a kind of temporary feel to it. It backed onto the the carpark where The potteries centre carpark is now. There used to be a grass slope which bordered the carpark. I remember we asked for "no salad" so we could get more meat in the pita. Extra lemon juice as well.

Almost anything from a kebab shop is though If you believed the rumours of what meat products went into one of those Doner skewers I'd probably stop eating them. But I don't,so I won't.

I read that most of those doner joints are made in Germany .....absolute mass of fat is added to questionable cuts of lamb (?) to bind it together .....perhaps ignorance is bliss on this on? Kebabs are not something that I eat myself but the wife loves them .
