Whatever it is, we cannot have a bystanding midfield for a 6th week in a row. Will it be changed? I doubt it. There has been no sign of a shake up there but only at the back.

I'd persevere with today's midfield, but put Sobhi in for Walters, and try to fix the pig's ear of a defence. Something like: Grant Johnson Shawcross Indi Pieters
Allen Whelan
Sobhi Bojan Arnie
Bony

Does it really matter what side we play? Hughes is making 4 or 5 changes every week in the hope something different happens and we look worse and worse. It's funny how it's all so quickly come to a head but Hughes clearly has no idea. He's become far too complacent. Football has moved on again in the last three years and teams are fitter, more direct, more powerful.
If you stand still still, you go backwards and that's exactly what has happened.

Until we can't get defensive midfielders to help out with the defending I'd go with 5 at the back and let Arnie play off Bony. Forget the wingers because they offer us no width and no escape ball anyway

Force WBA wide and hope to god to clear our lines. If in possession, play from the back on the break.
Nobody over 32 in the starting line-up unless their surname starts with a J and we will be fine.

Vs West Brom it's going to be a battle.
I've heard awful reports about Grant from a Derby fan I'm good pals with so as much as it pains me to say it Given has to start. It's no use making wholesale changes at the back and the goalkeeper.
Hughes needs to get back to basics. And stop the rot. Fast.
Given
Johnson. Shawcross. Indi. Bardsley.
Allen. Imbula. Adam (as a midfield 3)
Diouf (RW) Arnautovic (LW) Bony
I've included Diouf on the sole basis is that he will run all day and cover defensively if asked to.
I'd like to have given Ramadan the nod but against WBA and the Dinaosaur, he'll have done his homework and will execute plan. Get down the wings and set piece galore.
It's obvious out weakness is the flanks and set pieces. Get Bruno back in the middle and forming a partnership with Ryan ASAP.
We'll have match winners on the bench in the form of Bojan Crouch Ramadan and hopefully Shaqiri.
We paid 18 million for Imbula. We all know he's got bags of talent. So FFS play him in the deep position where he can get the ball and get this crock of shit team moving. It's no fucking use having Whelan and Allen in the same position.
Adam back in the team to add abit if steel and fight. He'll get stuck in. Create and craft openings.
Seeing Whelan and Allen in the middle today was embarrassing. I can't believe Hughes thinks they can play together.
Anyway. The bottom of it is. We must win against WBA or were going to be cut adrift after Man Utd away. Big time.

All these people saying they'd start Grant instead of Given, what's that all about?
How many of you have actually seen enough of Grant playing, to make you think he'd be a sure fire better bet than Given?
It's this crazy logic of ... 'he must be better than Given, until I've actually seen that he isn't.'
Using the same logic ... if you all had not ever seen Haugaard play, then you'd all want him in the team now.

Agree with that Paul, that;s why I reckon Grant should be tried against Hull on wednesday. Not against Brom.

Given should be dropped but not for his performances. letting in so many goals, whether it is his fault or not, can't do your confidence any good. We need to freshen up and having Grant in goal wouldn't be such a mistake seeing as how we a re playing.

I honestly think that whoever plays won't make a difference. We are a disorganised shambles and players don't seem to know what their roles are. I honestly thought after last week's debacle, Hughes would have worked on the training ground this week and prepared a side that was organised and difficult to break down. Hughes can chop and change from week to week as he is doing but nothing will change until he gets the team organised so players understand their role in the team. The last two weeks we have been a complete and utter shambles and it goes far deeper than team selection unfortunately Really? Every week we have to explain to players who are paid MILLIONS of Pounds every year to do a job and have been doing it for many years ... Given, your role is keeper, command the area and stop any shots from going in the goal. Ryan, Martins, your role is center backs. Stop anything coming through the middle and covers your fullback when he goes on an attack, and oh yes... stay in line with the other backs so we don't play anyone insides. When you get the ball, pass it to a team mate. If no pass available hoof it as far upfield as possible. Don't grab players and throw them to the ground in the penalty area. Johnson, Bardsley, your role .... blah blah blah

There's an old saying in management: if you tell people where they are going but don't tell them how to get there, they'll end up some place else and not how you got there. Actually, I am not even sure the players where know they are supposed to go.

We need changes for Saturday. It's not going to be like any game we've had this season and we need to be up for a fight - I haven't seen us fight in a football match since Anfied in January.
Given has to be dropped. Bring in Grant - there's nothing Shay can do that he cannot do, and Given hasn't done anything special to warrant him mantainjng a place.
Erik has to come back. He'll never ever give up and he's a natural full back. Indi and Ryan centre half with Johnson right back.
Charlie and Joe Allen in the middle. Nothing else you can do. Charlie has to play as he'll fight for the cause and has a lot to prove.
Arnie left wing. Simple. Sobhi on the right - we can't keep playing with unnatural slow wingers that can't cross a ball. Why sign this lad as our third choice winger if you don't want to play him?
Diouf and Bony up front. Mame won't stop working and Wilf has a goal in him.
But most importantly, there's one more big big change that is desperately needed. And that'sus lot. We've got a job to do so let's do it. Let's get behing the lads and let's get behing Mark Hughes and his men from start to finish. It'll do no good us booing them off at half time and it'll do absoultely no good us sitting on our hands for 90 minutes. Let's get behind this team again and transform the Brit into what it used to be like. Come on Stoke.

We've got to be clever with this one. I think Crouch should start with Bony. Diouf wouldn't create anything against Pulis' tall back 4.

Pulis usually has our cards because he mentally prepares his teams (higgy talked about this), and knowing our luck it'll be Michael Oliver reffing the game just to help matters.
Pulis will instruct his players to get tight, and leave niggly fouls in (a tactic we adopted to great effect in our first few seasons in the Prem), he will instruct his players to hit the deck at every opportunity outside the box, on corners he will demand his players go down easily and will tell them to target Ryan, he will also have his own defenders loosely grappling but not enough to be noticeable (something I spotted Palace do quite well this weekend). He's got our cards on the table already and he will be looking forward to it.
If we're going to win, Hughes needs to play to our strengths. We can pass them off the park with ease (we did with 9 men last season). We need to ATTACK as the best form of defence. He needs to ensure the players on the pitch are disciplined and don't lose their tempers, despite the niggly fouls.
This is a huge game for LMH.
