I don't recall it in my lifetime?
Who was the last Premier League player/manager?
It doesn't seem very popular in the top flight.

In the top flight Chelsea had a string of them in the 90s with Hoddle, Gullit and Vialli.
Bryan Robson was still listed as a player at Middlesbrough. Peter Reid at Man City (I think) and Dalglish at Liverpool
Other than that I'm struggling to think of any others

Bob McGrory was assistant manager and player under Tom Mather. Was he still a player when he took over as manager when Mather left for Newcastle Utd?

Howard Kendall - think he was a player coach with Alan Durban as the manager in the late seventies.

I don't recall it in my lifetime? Who was the last Premier League player/manager? It doesn't seem very popular in the top flight. Gary Monk was player manager when he first took over at Swansea.

Howard Kendall - think he was a player coach with Alan Durban as the manager in the late seventies. We lost out on a good player and missed out on a good manager

I don't recall it in my lifetime? Who was the last Premier League player/manager? It doesn't seem very popular in the top flight. Giggs was briefly player manager at Utd after Moyes left. Strachan was player manager at Coventry in the top flight. Mills was last first team player manager for Stoke - though Alan Ball occasionally turned our for the reserves in his time.

Think we've drifted from the OP question. Isn't it about Stoke City player managers? Not in our life time or other teams.

Just me!
Player manager turning out 44 times in total and 38 in the league before retiring at 38...
... MM did a great job of stabilising the club and working on a shoe string budget, but once money was given Smudge and the like started moaning about 'the next level'. Spent £1m on players to get relegated, but in hindsight, Cranny for £450k was a good buy but for his injuries, Bertie for £250k wasn't too foul, but Dekker Statham and Ian Scott - well least said...

Good God I'd forgotten about Chung and his little mini dugout.Pisser. I do remember how he used to give Foxy pre match catching practice by gently lobbing a ball underarm from the touchline:)
