Not a Stoke,I thought his first managerial job was Bradford had he not finished then. He was Stoke manager for about 14 games he was responsible for buying Kyle lightbourne Wasn't he manager when we got relegated to div 3.

Alan Durban took temp charge after mister disaster if I remember right. We had the protest against Bradford match was on sky under Kamara when we did not take our seats till after 10 min ground looked empty at kick off still looked empty when we decided to watch the match which I think we won.

Howard Kendall - think he was a player coach with Alan Durban as the manager in the late seventies. For some bizarre reason i remember Howard being player-coach more than i remember Mick Mills being player manager

Very much so. Even though Durban did brilliantly 78-79 he struggled in 1st Division and shafted us in the end so yes our loss

Just me! Player manager turning out 44 times in total and 38 in the league before retiring at 38... ... MM did a great job of stabilising the club and working on a shoe string budget, but once money was given Smudge and the like started moaning about 'the next level'. Spent £1m on players to get relegated, but in hindsight, Cranny for £450k was a good buy but for his injuries, Bertie for £250k wasn't too foul, but Dekker Statham and Ian Scott - well least said... Watching Statham in a Stoke shirt I was left baffled as to how he ever appeared for the national side? Slow, constantly out of position, easily beaten, a truly awful signing!
