We came out all guns blazing for 15 mins and could have had a couple of goals. That's it for me.

Imbula looked good going forward

Indi was a plus but we were exposed by swift counter attacks too easily, which must be stopped further up the pitch.

We started well and were the better side up to the goal. Bony and Indi need games but look better than the people previously in their positions by some margin. When Bony is fully up to speed he will be able to bring people into the game, offer a target and be a threat in his own right. Geoff had one of his worst games today and together and as Walters was miles off the pace we had nothing down the right. Whelan's limitations were heavily exposed, his booking showed his inability to think at speed when in possession. While Allen's energy is admirable, i am not sure it is useful, I have flip flopped on this but now think he should play in as a holding central midfield alongside either Imbula, who looked better today, or Adam, and we have to either give Bojan a run in there or consider playing Diouf in a 4-4-2. Pieters also seemed to be recovering some form, Shawcross looked solid until the second goal and there it ends. Given is a worry.
We have 3 players new since last season who are in our best XI so we should have improved. With Butland and Johnson back we will have 5 players we have not had for some time and with Shaq, 6. Only then we will know what we have. 5 of our next 6 games are winnable so if get to close to 10 points from 10 games we will be in decent shape with Butland to come back.

Shawcross and Indi. Bojan and Bony. Apart from when Shawcross went for a ball he had no right to go for and got mugged by Eriksson for the 2nd goal you mean? "Massive massive mistake"

Wouldn't have had to have been saved if it wasn't for Ryan's "massive massive mistake" though

Yes but the result and our league position is preventing people from seeing them
1) It was an even first half, if anything we were the better side. Tottenham didn't deserve to be ahead at the break
2) We started the second half quite well also, then they scored slightly against the run of play (Given at fault in my opinion... Jack would have had it)
3) Shawcross was better than he has been in the previous three games
4) Martins Indi looks pretty decent
5) Allen had a very good game
6) We only have to play Spurs once more this season

But you can't be brushing over the "massive massive mistake" by Ryan though as that would make you a stinking hypocrite now wouldn't it?

Well this means I can now sink several litres of beer and make a manager mode on FIFA and beat everyone 8-0 to make myself feel better.
I was doing the first part anyway but today's debacle has at least given me something to do when I'm suitably inebriated.

The only positive I can possibly muster from that shockingly bad performance is that it was SO bad, it simply cannot be ignored.
Tactics, formation, team selection, motivation, chemistry, even the absolute fucking basics were absent entirely. The players who are just not contributing even remotely towards where they should be have been massively exposed.
The management MUST do something. Training and matchday preparation needs an overhaul and we need to start picking players in the formation that suits. If we had lost 0-1 today with a semi decent performance, we probably would have persevered with this blatantly incorrect formation and personnel use.
I'm normally one for avoiding premature knicker wetting but these performances and ultimately drubbings are just not stopping. The later it is stopped, the more likely we will have drifted and it will be too late to do anything about it.
I'm not asking for Mark to be fired, or anything over the top. Just to be setting up the right way, with the right players.
I want to see wingers playing on the wing, not a half arsed Jon Walters. Sobhi is clearly chomping at the bit. Use him....
I want to see players motivated and wanting to do well and win a game of football, not Imbula trotting around with a face like he just found out his Nan died.
I want to see players substituted and/or dropped when performances are clearly not good enough, Pieters, Whelan, Imbula (this goes for every single player if they were in the same boat)

I wish the other players could put the same effort in as Joe Allen does. What a fantastic player he is

Didn't make the game today as away with family this weekend, only caught the last 20 mins on talksport So as per the title thread was there anything good about today? How did the 2 new boys look? I'll probably get hammered for this but I thought we actually played well today, for half an hour at least. Much more energy and Bony was far more mobile than Mame has been of late. Indi looked composed too. Sadly the ref decided that he would apply two different sets pf rules, and then Joe Allen, MoM, made a rather naive mistake and we were 1 down. How they managed to keep 11 men on the pitch is beyond me! After the 2nd goal we fell apart... Worrying, but too soon for panic imho

First 45 we were unlucky not to be 2-0 up if not for some inept refereeing. Once they got two you are chasing the game and it's hard to get that momentum going. It was not nearly as bad as being suggested on here. What this cnt says

"Massive massive mistake" It was a cumbersome error and exactly why he is nowhere near England. I also think he lacks presence when we are up against it

This needs investigating and until a reasonable response is found I will only field 10 players and give each team a 1 goal lead when they play us!
