Still intend to downsize and move to Penkhull one day
But Vegas is great for being right on the main road, near the hospital and easy to get to any part of the city from, plus nowhere near as rough as people think
Nowhere really stands out for me

All hail the Brook. ST9 is where it's at. We've got everything a gentleman requires apart from the sea.
There's a waiting list to get in though.

Penkhull or Wolstanton/May Bank you'd get something nice for that money, both proper full service urban villages, or the villages between Newcastle and Eccleshall if you get lucky and don't mind the extra driving. Leek has some odd inhabitants but it's a lovely town.

Sorry to hear the Lord John has closed, I used to drink in there with my Granddad many moons ago , along with the Red Gate and the Park Inn ....happy days .

How about Keele Village?
The ring road means the traffic no longer bombs through there and it has a nice village meets varsity vibe.

Sorry to hear the Lord John has closed, I used to drink in there with my Granddad many moons ago , along with the Red Gate and the Park Inn ....happy days . That must be at least 25 years ago. They demolished it to make the junction of Trentham Rd & Normacot road bigger with a filter lane type thingy and traffic lights. Used to go there with a pal of mine, and that was where the Buffs used to meet...I think they went to the wheatsheaf in Oulton after there,

I agree with oldskoke's list. I would add Brocton south of Stafford on the edge of Cannock Chase. My parents retired to there and walk onto the Chase every morning. Really beautiful. But you won't find anything for 150K.
