Nearly a decade in the Premier League... three consecutive top ten positions... barely mentioned when the relegation places are predicted. We are nowhere near "fast becoming a laughing stock", even if we do give Crouch another twelve months. In fact, I'd say the only way we'd fast become a laughing stock is if neutrals ventured onto this message board in their thousands and read some of the utter arse gravy that's posted. With Crouchie's unique physiology, I don't think that his age will affect him as much as other mature forwards in the league. Its not like speed has always been a big part of his game. His game has always been about his intelligence, using his obvious attribute to his advantage mixed with a good blend of tricky footwork and skill. My god, i just had a vision of a fat crouch! Imagine if he had aged and sized a la Southall or Parkin Imagine that bounding around the pitch - unstoppable Pile on the pounds, Peter!

Spot on mate, and that's what starting to really concern me about Diouf as our lonesome striker. I've always been a big fan of Diouf because of his strength, pace and effort, but I am now beginning to doubt whether he's ever going to make the grade going forward. He just misses far too many chances which he should be putting away with ease. He's had his chances and he's not proven his worth of late. Unless of course when he's played against the more inferior opposition during our pre-season warm up games. It's a real shame, cos like I said, I do like his all round attitude to the game, he just can't score goals often enough to warrant his role at S C F C. Of late? He's had one chance in two games. Yes, he missed it. But he's had one chance. IN TWO GAMES. There's a problem. Give him ones to miss let alone score! he had a wonderful one on one in hamburg after a great move, pre season friendly, no pressure, he fluffed his lines rather badly. I hope he can be that 20 goal a season player we crave, but I doubt it

I'm one of those that believes that Crouch still being involved demonstrates that we have failed to move sufficiently forward in our recruitment of first-team ready forwards. I would say, however, that right now, the other options available to us are just not working.
I love Diouf's effort, but he's still got the whiff of the 'slight upgrade on Cameron Jerome' about him, which is what I thought about him when he first arrived. Someone mentioned earlier that 'it's not his fault that the players behind him don't give the ball to him' - imo this could be down to trust. They see what I see perhaps - a player whose (lack of) technical ability means that you can't trust him with intricate build-up play; you can't give him the ball into feet, or in the air, with his back to goal, he's the proverbial dog with a balloon; and if we are only creating 2-3 chances per game, he's nowhere near clinical enough.
Joselu I like but the thing he lacks is aggression (and physicality), if he wanted to make a mark as first choice CF I think he could, maybe he doesn't want it enough.
Walters is 110% effort guaranteed but again not my ideal choice for CF.
So, giving Crouch a run isn't perhaps as daft as it sounds.

imo this could be down to trust. I don't think it's trust, I think it's bad choices from players who should know better being selfish.

Best CB clearance of the match. He's done alright but we've become a non-threat the last 10min. Need creativity and pace for the break. I'd change in Adam for Imbula and Bojan for Crouch and move Diouf up-top.
