Sad but true - this is the bottom line if you want the big money... Not sure I do want the big money. Don't get me wrong I don't look back misty eyed and yearn for piss soaked unsafe terraces and mud for pitches. But all too much of the new money is spunked away on overpriced preening tatooed millionaires who are bang average at best. A little less money in the game may encourage more focus on longer term planning rather than chucking cash at quick fixes, more patience with home grown talent and more clubs owned by people who care about football rather than any number of dubious chancers and criminals that fancy an adornment for their planet sized egos. You might even get a better England team out of it as well. if the big money wasn't on offer nowadays in football, chances are we'd still be owned by some shitty scandanavians. Yes Coates loves Stoke but let's be honest, he came back because he knows how profitable it can be in the Big league!

I'm for it. Why not, an extra game on tele. It happens all across Europe to. They should be more sensible with the fixtures though. Put Southampton against a London club maybe or had Burnley v Liverpool as this weeks game. Not always going to work I know but should be looked at, not a game with a 4 1/2 plus drive for the away fans.
Also....probably best not to have Derby games either!

Very rarely watch footie on tv, so the only time it affects me is when the potters are involved.
Plus: not a "school night" so getting home late is not an issue (so better than Monday)
Minus: northbound M1 is a 'mare on Fridays so our journey will be "stressful" to say the least (just for a home fixture), especially if work prevents an early start
So, on a purely selfish note, as long as it only hits us once a season I guess I can live with it

Friday has to me miles better than Monday as long as the journey isn't too bad This. Also better than Sunday football IMO.

That sums up my views perfectly. problem with matches for teams close together though will be policing though i'd have thought? most derbies have extra police and i can't see them being able to cope with policing a derby on a friday night and also having to cope with the normal friday night revellers as well. it's not like a saturday/sunday when the police can do the footy in the afternoon then the pissheads in town later on, friday night football will overlap the tits on the piss in town brigade. Depends on the clubs involved. Obviously Man Utd v Liverpool, Citeh, or Leeds (if and when they ever get to the Prem) would be a no no. But Man Utd v Burnley, West Brom or Leicester (and even Everton?) would not be high risk and those clubs are all much nearer than Southampton is.

This Friday sees the seasons first Friday night game with Man Utd hosting Southampton. Surely they could have picked a more localized fixture, to have this there are gonna be 1000's of people travelling on a Friday afternoon,( plus a few 100 Southampton fans) taking time off work, not getting home till stupid O clock, adding to traffic congestion, just does not make sense to me at all, why not make them derby games, for me, it's an ok concept, after all the TV companies are the paymasters now, unfortunately, but Man U v Southampton...Really... Stoke v Man City would have made more sense. Rant over.... Got to agree with you - ought to be restricted to 1hr travelling/ 50 miles radius. London clubs, inc Soton, Bournemouth & Watford Manchester & Liverpool clubs inc Stoke & Burnley Midlands Clubs inc Stoke & Leicester North East clubs inc Hull

Against. I watched it tonight and it is a good way to start the weekend I suppose but it's only a matter of time before it has a knock on effect on the championship. Sky usually show one championship game on a Friday, why take the small spotlight they give them away?
