Robin Van Persie wouldn't be a bad signing at all, and if anything he'd improve us by adding squad depth, You can always rely on him to score you goals, that's exactly what we need. However there's no point in giving him more than 2 years. We need a young striker who we can build a team around, like Berahino or N’goy. The fact is that we seem so lazy and were just not efficient at the moment in this window, it's been terrible if i'm honest. I don't see him coming either way so I think this is a smokescreen for the berahino deal, i've got a feeling that we'll have at least 2 new signings come the end of this week.

He's scored 16 in 31 games for Fenerbahçe, he still looks in good shape and has proven that he can still find the net. So depending on the cost and the deal, yeah I reckon he'd be a damn good signing.

Would be a great signing in my opinion, I think he is one of the missing pieces that could help us clinch a higher place in the prem. Goal scoring has been a bane for Stoke for a while now as we were 22 goals behind Liverpool and still finished just behind them so with about 15 extra RVP goals a season would do wonders for us.

It would just be another Michael Owen/Eidur Gudjonnsen situation................... Is this the same Michael Owen who played 1 full game and Scored? I don't think you can compare transfers made by two very different managers. I'm on the fence with this rumour, it's against what I think we should be bringing in but it depends on how MH is prepared to use him.

With Berahino also coming through the door then maybe but even with that scenario I fear he would be a waste of a huge wage.

It's an old one, the Michael Owen debate, but worth pointing out that he didn't even play a full game for us, or start a league game. I was at the swansea game when he scored his only goal for us, he came on in about the 70th minute when we were already 2 or 3 goals down. He had one start - against palace in the cup- but was subbed off before the hour mark. Stoke historians may prove me wrong but this puts him in the rare (if not solo member) of a group of players who have scored a league goal for us but not made a league start

Rory Delap's throw ins gave us more global exposure than Michael Owen.

If it touched his head at all it must have brushed his forelock, it scarcely changed the direction of the ball at all!

Ever since Sparky was asked about it and he didn't deny it I thought this could happen, still not sure about it though.

A loan would be brilliant for all three parties. We shouldn't be paying a massive fee for anyone his age

Berahino and Van Persie surely means Crouch or Diouf will be going?.. don't think Sparky will give up on Joselu yet.

I'm not feeling this folks. I'd rather we left well alone. He's too old, injury prone and there was never much love for him when he played against us. I hope it's a smokescreen for Berahino....

Seems we've really upped it in the last 24hrs.
Where are all the leaks coming from?! Allen,Berahino now RVP. You'd imagine one of our Strikers would be sold.

I know the quality in the Turkish league is shite but....he's still got it. As others have mentioned he's scored 16 goals over there even with his chequered injury past.

I've just imagined the look on Wenger's face when RVP sticks in the last minute winning goal at the Emirates next season and decided I'm well up for it.
