160k a week for a 33 year old player whose best days are most definitely behind him? Even half of that, if we made some sort of up front payment to be knocked off the wage, is way too much. Global marketing of RVP shirts and images would make some of his wages back. The extra attention the club would gain with RVP in the squad would enhance the global brand and would improve our yearly income and future yearly incomes. The extra 2 or 3 places up the league his finishing could take us would make all of his wages back. The people who run our football club know what they are doing. If we are after RVP or anyone else for any price that we are willing to pay - it's because we think they can benefit us. It's a business. Do you really believe that SCFC could capitalise commercially by signing someone of his stature? For a start it would mean them getting off their arses and doing some work.

Yup, it's a business - which is why our astute owners will steer well clear of that kind of outlay on a 33 year old RvP looking for a last big pay day.

I can't remember the last time we were linked to a player who I didn't want us to sign, but I really don't like the look of this deal.
It's van Persie, so if we did sign him, there's probably part of me that would be excited because well, it's van Persie. But the fact is, we're on the up and he's not.
Berahino looks massively expensive, but I'd still rather we look at players like him with potential.
