Personally, I'd gladly take 9th again because next season the league will probably be strongest than it has veer been since we got promoted. You'll have the likes of Citeh, United, Arsenal & Chelsea massively improving, you'll have the likes of Leicester, West Ham & Southampton bringing in new players as well, Spurs will be up their & I'm assuming so will Liverpool & Everton (especially after Martinez's departure) & I also get the feeling that clubs like Swansea & Palace will significantly improve. If we manage to finish 9th again, it'll be a huge achievement.

If Arnie leaves, I think 9th would be the absolute maximum we could hope for.

Of course, in a heartbeat. One or two tiny historical pockets of exceptional over-achievement aside, the last few seasons is as consistently good as we have ever been in our entire existence.

I'll go for the 'boring bastard' answer & just take each game as it comes. I wunna get too excited when we win (Unless we win a lot & are ten points clear at the top come February) and I wunna get too pissed off when we lose (Unless we lose alot & are ten points adrift come February)

Take your hand off at that, a trip down the smoke as well would cap it. Get something out of the first six this time around and strap in for the ride again. (cheeky eighth).

Anything above 14th I'll be satisfied, anything above 10th I'll be ecstatic, your right when saying that it could be the toughest PL season yet. A good cup run aswell please that's all, 100% every game. Anything below 15th I'll be a little disappointed.

I'd take it of course but would I be truly happy with it ? A lot would depend on how we'd achieved that position I guess - how many dropped home points, defeats to teams we *should* be beating, goals scored and conceded....another shit start / shit end would be disappointing ........all hypothetical though and as stated above, probably gonna be the toughest test yet.........

Not meaning to offend anyone here like, but we kind of get this "toughest season ever", "X and Y will improve loads this summer" and "P and Q will invest and challenge us" lark every summer. It never really works out like that.
We'll have 2 or 3 teams from that list under perform massively, a few "big" clubs underperform by their standards and most of the clubs below us this season staying where they are.
We need to continue being consistent because that leads to growth. I'd be happy with 9th but as long as we've shown improvement over last season.
Anything above that is obviously great.

What if "2 or 3 teams from that list" don't under perform? Or what if a few big clubs don't under perform? What if some of the clubs 'below us' have great seasons? Do we take any of this into account or do we just say "We didn't finish 9th therefore we had a shit season"?

In all reality 9 th from where we were at Christmas was under achievement, however Chelsea will keep frog us, Liverpool under Klopp will only get stronger which means the likes of West Ham , Southhampton and Leciester we need to chase. A striker , Second string keeper, Central defender and midfield acquisition we should give those 3 a run for their money. 7th or 8 th for me because at times this year we were very good.

Yes... most definitely. A nice cup run wouldn't go amiss with a top half finish. In fact, if we keep away from that bloody gravity alligator then I'll be a happy chappy.

The PL may be better next season (it can't get much worse) but I expect Stoke to be much better. A fair run on the injuries front and some good signings should see us challenging the likes of West Ham, Everton and Southampton for a Euro spot.
There will be some right shit in the league as well - the 3 coming up, Watford, Palace, WBA, Sunderland and Bournemouth. For us to be in the relegation shake up would take mismanagement on an unprecedented scale.

It depends on how it will "feel" to finish 9th next year. This season it was a slight disappointment because we were playing with all guns blazing in October, November & December. With some big clubs in disarray and others routinely underperforming I thought Europe was genuinely within our sights. It was the most open season for a while and I wish we could have taken full advantage. I am glad we finished on a high though and in 9th.
Next season will be different, probably dominated by six clubs. Sparky will have his work cut out and he knows it.
I will be happy with 9th this time next year.
