Definitely take 9th and hopefully a cup final aswell Ditto I'd take it for the next 10 seasons and maybe notch a trophy or two along the way.

Would most definitely take 9th, plus a good cup run (semi-finals / final) including a couple of top-notch cup away-days along the way.

I have no idea why we couldn't win a cup AND finish top 10. I don't see us qualifying for Europe through the league position. We are someway behind WestHam and Southampton, like 11/12 pts and that margin I believe is a reflection of our lack of quality compared to theirs. So to make up another 10 pts I think is beyond us. A cup run of course depends on a huge slice of luck in the draw, especially avoiding being drawn against a premier side. We haven't actually won an FA Cup tie against a prem side since the Bolton semi, so maybe but the omens are not good.

Yes, as long as we cut out the gutless thrashings. Too many games this season where we seemed to surrender. Should the players be happy with 9th? No, They should be aiming to win the league.

I am not willing to cause an argument.
Ninth is great
But does this show fear of doing worse? Most have said they would take ninth and i also probably would

Yes... most definitely. A nice cup run wouldn't go amiss with a top half finish. In fact, if we keep away from that bloody gravity alligator then I'll be a happy chappy. OS. There's a gravity alligator as well as a gravity crocodile? Fuck! I'm worried now. 40 points then see when we are when we achieve this!

16th and 2 cup finals (ideally win one). Absolutely no chance of challenging for Europe via the league.

Yes. I just want to see good exciting free flowing football. Score more goals, hopefully concede less. Have a more settled team and more consistent performances. Anything else is a bonus. Thats not lack of ambition on my behalf I'm just one of those strange football fans who's much more into the performance than the outcome, winning ugly has never really done it for me.

We're far away from teams like West ham & Southampton in terms of squad depth & consistency. No way are we miles away from either of those sides they both had poor runs during the season too and are both like us easily handicapped by injury or suspension to their better players. For instance none of the three teams fared too well when they lost their frontline keeper. I'm not sure about the squad depth argument I'm no fan of having a large squad of ageing senior pro's.

We should strive to cement 9th for the rest of time, make it our own... even if it's at our own detriment!

Last season was a "what if" destroyed by injuries. 9th is more than achievable even before any new signings, these are exciting times to be a Stoke fan.

We're far away from teams like West ham & Southampton in terms of squad depth & consistency. That´s the only thing we are far away of, and it´s the duty of the manager and the team to get consistent next season. We have been consistent for many weeks in November, December last year. I think it´s possible to proove that over a longer period.

The previous season was the same and I expect we'll get the same next season. What we need is quality in depth, in order to rotate players and keep them fit. Hopefully we'll bring in some decent players this summer.

I can't believe the lack of ambition on here.
I'm never going to be happy with zero progression unless we've won something the season before. I'm looking for more euro adventures before i'm too old to enjoy them.
9th was satisfactory last season only because of the crippling injuries we had. But the overall feeling I was left with was underwhelmed.
Were in the top 30 richest clubs in the world, we have no right to win anything, but every right as supporters to want better. If the fans settle for the mediocre that's what we will end up with.
Hopefully messr's Coates and Hughes share my view.

I think we are 5 players from a great team. 1x New Keeper. 1x CB. 1x DM. 1x CF. 1x Winger £60 million should do it plus Arnie signing ...........................Jack........................ Johnson........Ryan.........New CB.......Erik ...........New DM..............Natalie............ Shaq............... Bojan.................Arnie .......................New CF....................... Has potential : Rest of Squad :- New Keeper, Geoff, Glenda, Diouf, SJW, Joselu, New Winger, Muni, Bards,Affalay. Wooly, Adam, Crouch and 3rd Keeper Jakob ! Thats my shopping complete easy get it done LMH :-)

I would take 9th again given the same circumstances. A lot depends on what happens though: Will Arni stay? Will Diouf or Joselu blossom into a high goal scorer? Will we score more goals? Will the defence be more settled next season/ How will the likes of Chelsea, Everton, West Ham, Leicester do? The list is endless.
I concluded that this season we did regress because we never replaced N'Zonzi effectively, we failed to score sufficiently, and we accumulated less points. Yes we had a lot of injuries, but the club brought in a large number of players last summer to cover that situation.
On the other side of the coin, 9th place with Liverpool and Chelsea either side of us, is an achievement we have dreamed of for decades and outstanding considering the resources other clubs have.
So yes I want more, I dream of winning the FA Cup, but if 9th is what we get then I happily accept it and will still be proud to be a Stokie.

For sure I would. I would imagine it is the minimum target set out by Hughes and Bowen as well. Bojan was talking about the Champions League in the guardian this season ffs!!

One year, maybe next year or in ten years, the wheels will come off. Would take 9th every season

Sign a beast like Bony or Benteke and we can finish higher than 9th.
Otherwise we will be struggling to finish top 10.
Every team needs that elusive 20 goal a season striker.
Leicester need to keep hold of vardy and they'll be up there again
