Shaqiri's failure to track back has directly resulted in 2 goals & don't even get me started on the keeper. If the ball is in the 6 yard box, the keeper must take responsibility. Need the experience of Given against Spurs next week.
The disappointing part is that we were actually the better side in the first half. The team was set up perfectly, the tactics were spot on & we completely dominated the midfield yet we let in 2 poor goals because of some individual mistakes.
We then started the second half in the worst possible manner with a horrible mistake by Haugaard & that was pretty much game over at that point. The 4th was just the icing on the cake from Liverpool's perspective. The defenders don't trust the keeper anymore & the sheer discordance in the squad is what has cost us the game today, a game we were totally up for.
This game also perfectly summed up what Whelan brings to the team. A calming presence who organises the midfield in front of the defence & fills in the holes left behind by players bursting forward in attack. Our midfield line was shambolic in the 2nd half.
Anyways, I hope we learn from this defeat & bring in Given for the rest of the season. I still stand by my statement that we can beat last year's points tally so bring on next week. We're a much better team with Whelan & Arnautovic.

Seriously blaming Shaq?
First goal was complete shambles as three of them fannied about trying to block the quick free kick and all got caught out of position Bardsley went missing numerous times, when that ball was flicked past Shaqiri for their second he was expecting his full back to be behind him, but he was in no mans land miles away Bardo caught out and nailed for the 4th
Pieters had a stinker all game, 3rd goal down his channel (so obv Shaqs fault)
Will grant you the keeper should have saved goals 1 and 4, and caught crosses 2 and 3!

Shaq is not a naturally defensive winger, i wouldn't even call him a winger tbh and he probably should have done better to stop Ojo but the resulting cross would have been met by Jack Butland's hands 9 times out of 10, Haugaard just wasn't confident in his abilities

Maybe I'm being a little harsh but I just feel that away from home, some of our flair players have got to do more defensively. Not slagging of Shaq of course. He has been a great signing & was probably our best player last month but it's a bit frustrating that he gets injured every time he's on form & then has to start all over again. Today he never seemed up for it. Never took on his man & defensively he was absolutely anonymous.

I hate saying this about our players but I'd fuck Shaqiri off back to Germany or wherever. Despite being a gifted footballer he'll never make a PL footballer. Not strong enough, not prepared to do the dirtier side of the game.
He's had some great moments but not enough for the money spent on an established experienced player.

The funny side is that their second goalkeeper is the worst of the leauge. With Bogdan on the pitch we probably could have won this

Shaq was one of our better players.... Bojan probably thee best on the day.... Cam had a steady game in midfield.... Haugaard was woeful, never came out to claim one ball.... Afellay is one of my fav players but today I thought he was none existent.... Peiters had a mare, but with no Arnautovic down the left, he was often left exposed.... And Imbula consistently kept running into trouble because he wouldn't play the ball!!!
That was my view for what it's worth!!!

Phenomenal, ready to fuck him back off to Germany (think you meant Italy btw) after not even a full season in the Prem. Thought he was one of our better players today and he has the ability and attitude to succeed in England or any league in the world. He put the effort in today defensively, I'm ready to excuse the fact our 5"6 winger isn't the Premier League's best fullback. Fucking hell, spare me. Get's skinned once by Ojo and now he's wank and he wants sending abroad. Though knowing the oatcake they probably just want him out the country because he's a muslim!

Beaten by a better team today cue hunting out scapegoats predictable and sad really I don't think we were, we were beaten by our own shitness, shit defending shit goalkeeping shit wing play shit midfield and shit attacking. We handed the game to Liverpooh on a plate. Jacob was disastrous Shaq was almost as bad as the rest but not quite, the only 2 that weren't too bad were Bojan and Imbula. Gouranga.

He's simply not done enough to justify the price tag. One good game every dozen isn't enough - time to cut the losses on this one and re-invest whatever we get into Summer purchases. Some big money players work out well, some don't. Imbula has/will, Shaq hasn't

Although yes, letting Ojo in was really poor Shaq did not let Ojo go through lack of effort He was down there with him which means that he did track back Ojo dribbled him; it happens The point is shaq should not have been left ALONE to defend and the right back should have been doubling with him. In such case OJo would not have gone past both of them for sure
