I hate saying this about our players but I'd fuck Shaqiri off back to Germany or wherever. Despite being a gifted footballer he'll never make a PL footballer. Not strong enough, not prepared to do the dirtier side of the game. He's had some great moments but not enough for the money spent on an established experienced player. What an absolute load of bollocks and thank fuck you have nothing to do with the management of our club.

He's simply not done enough to justify the price tag. One good game every dozen isn't enough - time to cut the losses on this one and re-invest whatever we get into Summer purchases. Some big money players work out well, some don't. Imbula has/will, Shaq hasn't Sorry didn't mean to like. The price tag? 12m is nothing much in today's market. What he gives us on the wing and as a threat going forward is fantastic. His crossing is spot on. The best at the club and you and pugs want to fuck him off. He needs to refine his game for sure and that will come but saying we need to get rid is stupid. We have a great talented footballer with us. Why would you want to get rid of that.

I essentially agree about Haugaard's performance per se, but let's face some great goalies have looked useless when brought into the English game. Just remember de Gea's first half season for Manure. He looked amateurish and many thought he was the worst keeper ever. Now he's the very best. Sorensen also struggled enourmously when he first came in, not for us because by then he had played several hundred matches, but when he first was bought by Sunderland.

Shaqiri was one of the better performers. No question.
Whelan was sorely missed yesterday. He has limitations but he's one of the only players prepared to run himself into the ground and clean up in front of the back four.
Imbula looks fantastic with the ball and going forward but he does not seem to be interested when he doesn't have the ball.
Haugaard....well, he's young and inexperienced. He dropped some clangers for sure. We either stick with him and let him get the experience or we bring Given in now knowing that it may really dent his confidence. Tough call.
As for defenders.....well, I won't mention Robert Huth. Shawcross was clearly rusty yesterday. Wollschied has improved but I am never comfortable with him. He always looks like he's ready to do a 'Wilson' to me. Also seems very lightweight and not prepared to do the real physical battle. Positioning has been good in some games but not dominant enough in the air or on the ground for my liking.
The thing that Liverpool did well was press hard. Giving our players no time on the ball is a sure way to screw us up. It worked 100%. I was impressed that they managed to keep it up all game.

No game like football to diversify opinion.
Problem with Shaq is that because of his reputation everyone expect barnstorming wins and performances every week... and he just doesn't.

Definitely worth creating a new thread for this.
I'd not seen these points raised in any of the others, so thanks for highlighting them for us.

Is Shaq was 'absolutely hopeless', god knows what everyone else was!

1. Shaqiri is a winger not a full back so yes his effort to stop Ojo was poor yet forgivable 2. Why the fuck did Bardsley leave him exposed one on one with a winger in the first place? 3. It doesn't matter that he let the cross come in, it was a couple of yards away from Haugaard and he bottled it, making him mainly at fault for the goal 4. Imo Shaq was our best and most creative player yesterday anyway

Shaq did well, Haugaard was terrible. Given needs to start against Spurs.

Yes Scousers are deluded, yes I hate them...but they were in awe of him...every one of them I heard said he was the only player other than Imbula who looked to have real quality in our squad, it's the only sense they've ever spoke

The problem we have is that we have players who dont contribute much when we dont have the ball Shaq and Bojan are two such players and you have to have very good players to cover for them . Whelan often does this well but without him , both full backs having mares , a young nervous keeper and a pretty slow central midfield pairing we got well spanked in the second half.
The challenge for Stoke is how to get the balance right when the other team doesn't carry any players that wont work .

Imbula had a good game, Stoke's MOM. Imbula had a good Game??? Very funny Very average for me ok with the ball but pretty poor without it which should be a big part of his role . For the second game in a row he was strolling when he should have burst a gut to close down ( first goal both games ) A talented boy but needs to apply himself a hell of a lot more to justify what we have paid for him , but stil early days

On a serious note, why have we not put Hougaard in the u21s all season? Your allowed players over the age of 21 and we never play any. Surely keeping him alert all season would have helped, playing regularly for 90 mins rather than expecting him to play superb after sitting on the bench all year.

His crossing needs to improve. He needs to take on his full back more. Then we will see his potential fulfilled. He still has a lot to learn - but he's young
