He tried. He failed.
Not the first. Won't be the last.

Hardly failed. It's just the manager preferred courtois.
Big clubs can't have two world class keepers on the books and keep them happy
If he had signed a 5 year deal with us last year we would have struggled to keep jack

Arnie doesn't seem the type to me. couldn't see him going anywhere unless he was guaranteed first team football whereas Begs MUST have known he'd be number 2 at Chelsea (as everyone else on the entire planet seemed to be aware of it)

I know all players will have belief in themselves but did he really think he was going to keep Courtois out of the team ?
Foolish move.

He went there knowing he was number 2. He played 20 games. It's gone better than he could have expected. I think he might be refering to Chelsea's collapse more than his personal situation.
Still- take note Arnie...

He will have lost out like Asmir and we would as well.

Would he go to Leicester ? CL football and a good chance of being first choice, I'd be pissed right off.
Arnie I mean. Or for that matter Bego as well.

While he was a top keeper and did a mighty fine job during his time here, I find myself not giving a shit about his predicament now. Let's not forget his little hissy-fits about being too big to sit on the bench when Butland was between the posts at Swansea and his refusing to play in the cup game against Shrewsbury.

I know all players will have belief in themselves but did he really think he was going to keep Courtois out of the team ? Foolish move. It didn't turn out to be that ridiculous an idea, or shouldn't have at least. He played well when deputising and I've heard plenty rumblings from Chelsea fans that they'd have preferred Bego to be starting for them this season given Courtois's form.

This ^ I do not wish him any harm but by the same token he made his decision so crack on with it. Oh and if you're reading this Bego Jack Butland is better than you and I do not miss you one jot

Arni just feels like a perfect fit for Stoke - a bit odd, sprints in a slightly strange way when without the ball, actually smiles and has a funny dance to boot. Unless he starts to get past his man a bit more on the wing I think we're safe from a better offer. What do I know though?* *sod all pretty much.

There have been recent press reports that Courtois is a summer target for Real Madrid, should De Gea not be available, which, I assume but knowing Chelsea couldn't guarantee, will mean Beggo would become number one. Should that not transpire, Beggo has been heavily linked with Everton on more than one occasion this year. With Tim Howard confirmed as a goner this summer, they will certainly be in the hunt for a top keeper. Que cera, cera.

Frankly, in terms of club momentum, a move to Everton from Stoke (via Chelsea) would be a backward step for someone of Bego's ability and potential.

I know all players will have belief in themselves but did he really think he was going to keep Courtois out of the team ? Foolish move. Why wouldn't he think he could be number 1? The Begovic of 2 seasons ago would have graced any of the top ten teams in the world.....He was that good. I would still prefer Bego (of 2 seasons ago) over Butland. Butland is not as commanding as Bego (at the moment)..may be due to unsettled back four? I really don't think Bego moved to Chelsea to pick a fat wage up (it helps obviously). Numerous chelsea fans felt he was unlucky to lose his place once Courtois came back from injury.

Bego hasn't made any mistakes in moving. He knew he would always be No 2 but he is is now a very rich man. Once you get that move with the contract that goes with it your set for life. With the contract and money in the bag he can now set about finding a decent club and contract with a club where he will be No 1 and see out his best days. Mission accomplished Bego.

He's got his paycheck and he'll get a move to a top half, or better, Premier League club if he doesn't go abroad.

From what I've seen of the overrated and comical Cortois lately, Begovic should be Chelsea's first choice keeper.

Surely any Prem league player is "set for life" in a very short time. Don't any of them earn in a week what most people would earn in a year? I think Bego moved due to ambition rather than money and consequently is disappointed that he did not keep the first choice place and can see his career drifting.
