They pride themselves on 25% of our season ticket holders being under 21. In the next few years those youngsters in The Family Stand will have nowhere to relocate to and will becoming occasional attendees or drift away. Completely short sighted and all for the price of a Dean Whitehead. The owners have been great, and they have a real chance to leave a long lasting legacy..... I was told the other day the club have been quoted £14million for the scoreboard corner fill in and moving the big telly. I doubt it's that much pugs....The footings are already in place and in reality it's only a corner A new stand would probably cost £14m but not a corner....but what do I know

Mate if they'd have wanted to they'd have done it by now. The training ground and the Academy are their legacy and that's where any future structural investment will go. Spending money on the ground is throwing money down the drain as far as they're concerned. It's a crap stadium, in a crap spot. Why increase it's crapness? A new corner will simply highlight how shabby and rubbish the rest of the ground is. They'd then have to spend millions bringing the rest of the ground and the infrastructure up to spec. It's not happening. We'll have a new stadium before this one gets finished (and perhaps that's the plan). We can but hope. No chance of a new stadium

It was quoted as £3.8 million when it got planning permission and that was 3 years ago I think. It was a low price because the footings are already in place. That seems about right - with a bit of inflation it should still come in at under £4.5 million now.

listening to Angela Smith last night on Knot FM ,I don't see any pressure being put on the club to upgrade the stadiums facilities and capacity in the near future she kept referring to the non sell out for midweek games despite it being explained that young people have school and college so can't attend as easily in the middle of the week Work commitments to. Fair weather fans too.

To build a double tier boothen, and fill in the corner wouldn't / shouldn't cost that. It cost 25m for bet365 offices. That corner could be done for next to nothing.

The other remark she made was Stoke will not expand until we sell an extra 1000 season tickets The supporters council is an extended mouthpiece for the Chief Executive. It is a defunct organisation that should be disbanded immediately. 100% agree

Do we really need to create a thread every 3 days to discuss the corners ?
It'll be done when Peter decides and no matter how many threads or whinging about the SC not pushing the issue will change that.

We're in a golden period and now is the time to take advantage and grow the club and fanbase. I don't get the fear from Stoke City supporters over this. Small minded mentality that goes with the area. Sorry.

Stoke fans are born and bred in Stoke (for the most part) and I would imagine it's a generation thing, most supporters of Stoke follow the club because their family before them did etc. Your either an ST holder, the casual supporter who picks and chooses or the fair weather supporter who goes when they feel like it can afford. I haven't heard many complaints of non ST holders who are unhappy about not getting tickets game after game you may struggle on the bigger games but it isn't too difficult in general. The only way we will increase the fanbase is either A) a reduction in ticket prices either ST or match day (never going to happen Stoke already pride themselves on freezing the prices) B) become successful on the pitch and competing for trophies to gather what some would call the glory hunter supporter Just because you build it doesn't mean they will come, we are not going to convert vale fans to come to Stoke (maybe the odd glory hunter ????). Last week against Newcastle the ground was at most 75% full and tickets were on sale on groupon AGAIN something that has been a regular occurrence this season and again I can't imagine this is very successful who the hell goes on groupon to by football tickets? You may sell the odd chancer who sees it and thinks they'll give it a go but I can't imagine it's many. Maybe Petes theory is to build success on the field first by pumping the money into the playing squad, development squad, academy and training facilities to improve the playing side of things and if successful then improve the stadium. Our stadium isn't great but it's sufficient for our needs at the moment and I'm sure Pete and the family didn't get their billions in the fluke they are well educated business minded people and when they decide it's time I'm sure they will make the right decision.

30 million extra TV cash next season. Does that make around 100 million?
Improve Clayton Wood. Tidy up the concourses. Fill in the South West corner. Re-design traffic systems.
Just get it done.

These kids are the future fanbase. I agree with your comment that most Stoke fans follow the club because their parents did but there is now great interest in Stoke City beyond Stoke on Trent. I'm in south Cheshire and know a few parents with younger kids who cannot get seats together at Stoke. To be honest, the dads are only interested now because we are doing ok but get them down there and you've then got the kids for life. It's the kids we should be aiming to hook. Sadly, it's all too easy to get tickets at Man City 40 miles away from here so that's where they go and you've lost them forever. Believe me this is happening right now. We don't have to be in Europe or winning trophies, people want to get involved right now and can't. I'm not sure who you listen to but I hear lots of complaints from families that can't sit together. Not every game will sell out, so for a midweek game against Bournemouth or whoever you sell cheap tickets to school kids or local junior football teams. It's marketing, it's looking to the future, it's making sure the future generations are there.

The owners will always have the argument that what would the punters prefer...20million on a new player or a stadium upgrade.

It's already been mentioned that a high percentage of our ST holders are concession tickets the club also give away tickets to schools almost every game as well as encouraging lads and dads teams to purchase tickets and be flag bearers for £5 a ticket my lads team have done this twice this season and I receive the mails every week from the club offering all clubs at our level further opportunities to do so for upcoming games. Also why would Stoke supporting dads be taking their kids to watch Man City whose ticket prices are higher than our own ? I don't agree that this is happening at all.

So the case for not adding 1,800 seats is because we might not sell every single one of them for every single match?
Go & find me one, just one club on Planet Earth that sells every single seat for every single game... I'll save you the time, there isn't one! On the flip-side, go & look at lists of 'percent of capacity' in average attendance lists, you'll see Stoke City right near the top (If not at the very top) in all of them. But yeah, no need to expand 'cos we just anit got the fanbase.

The club have been fantastic in almost every aspect for several years now.
I can see their reluctance to discuss the issue in depth because in all likelihood they aren't quite sure which way they want to proceed.
However it's clearly getting a lot of fans talking/arguing about what may or may not happen.
The good will that the club has built up is wavering ever so slightly because people are paying damn good money to get wet/ squeezed in concourses covered in urine (or whatever issue it may be).
Would it be too much to ask for the club to make a brief statement along the lines of "we are looking into possible upgrading of facilities" or "we are looking into the feasibility of a new stadium" and then leave it at that for now. On this issue they are treating loyal fee paying customers like dimwits and that just isn't the right thing to do.
It's as though they darent tell us of any motives they may have for fear of a backlash or some other negative imagined outcome.
Come on stoke, tell us stokies what you are thinking !

If it was me I'd fill all the corners in and build second tiers on the DPD and Boothen for all the reasons we've discussed. But it isn't my money or yours. And from a purely business point of view I don't think they'll do it. The '1000 extra ST's' routine is a give away. It's simply a convenient get out when we don't sell them (which we physically can't by the sound of it).
