Mesen, I think when matter goes into a Black hole, it must go somewhere surely, so the Big Bang could be the result of that matter coming out of a Black Hole, somewhere else in the Universe.

I'm not sure .....I have no experience of black holes and do not intend to enter any in the near future , although I am going to Yorkshire in May for a holiday .

Over the years I've pondered this big question a lot. Now I'm older I have decided that it doesn't matter, and I no longer care. Which is liberating. Something happened billions of years ago, billions of miles away. If we found the answer it would simply raise another question.

No.....It began before the oatcake developed semi intelligent Eastern European communist life forms ..... Even before Albert Ramsbottom scored a hatrick in 1890 .... May even have started before The Eyptians built Luxor ... I reckon it could be dead old .

Which God though ? Theres a few versions out there ... name 10 Jehova, Allah (same one, different flavour) The Norse Gods Odin, Thor, Loki etc The Greek Gods, Zeus, Hera, Hades, etc The Hindu Gods, Brama, Vishnu, Ganesha etc The Roman Gods, (basically the Greek Gods, with different names The Egyptian Gods The Maya Gods Thousands of pagan Gods, like the ones that make volcanoes erupt, or turn night into day etc What links them all, is that their believers were/are convinced that they are the only ones that are correct.

Which God though ? Theres a few versions out there ... name 10 Nail on head ....Who are these mythical figures ? i know of one who was recently arrested in London and had kept his daughter prisoner for thirty years , but I'm not convinced he's the main man ... Neither was David Koresh ....remember him .? Prince Phillip is another one who is worshipped by a South Pacific group of natives I believe ....not good news if your name happens to be sheik Momo (if you had the chance to read his ramblings and rankings yesterday following a commerative pottery range for the Queen was announced ) Then there's Jesus ...You may have heard about him ... Personally ....I prefer Mark Stein and Jimmy Greenhoff ....

Mesen, I think when matter goes into a Black hole, it must go somewhere surely, so the Big Bang could be the result of that matter coming out of a Black Hole, somewhere else in the Universe. Not sure because I've not been there but according to the usual rules of physics matter can't disappear into a Black Hole. You can't destroy stuff, it changes into summat else. But what we know of quantum physics small stuff can be in several (at least two) places simultaneously. That's about as far as I've got so far. I tend to believe in the big bang thing, but I don't know what banged against what in the beginning. Once there's some kind of explanation I'll take atoms a bit more seriously.

I wonder why people are bothered about trying to explain the universe when they find it hard to explain themselves first. It's a wonderous thing the universe, but no more wonderous than yourself. Your bound to wonder, of course, that's only human nature but when the brains of physics are still working on theories and only theories, it's surly best to try and manage the things that you may have a chance of solving. You won't find that in outerspace. It's a shame that governments spend so much money on this type of thing. We're never going to find anything that really makes a difference or changes us as people until we find out what people are and why we are the way we are. Even if we did find something of interest in the reaches of space, would we have the interllect to understand it. We should put more money into medicine, psychology, health and education instead of space exploration and more time in ourselves rather than questions we could never answer until the questions of ourselves are answered. Let the universe find us, not us find it, if we are worth finding at all and we won't be worth finding if we haven't worked out the basics. What may be out there could be amazing but what is here is more amazing, for now. When we get our heads around that, we may be able to go forward.
