He's in Germany seeing a specialist but should certainly be back for the Southampton game according to Sparky at the press conference He might even be back on Saturday: MH on Ryan Shawcross... He is in Germany as we speak, seeing somebody, so whether he is available for Saturday remains to be seen. If not then we would hope to have him available for Southampton next weekend.

It strikes me that we still aren't 100 percent sure of how to heal the injury. It just keeps dragging on. One things for sure he's missed.

Every man and his dog knew we needed to sign a defender and there's no dressing that up. Well, we're not doing too badly at the moment. Two clean sheets against three of the worst teams in the division (or one clean sheet against two of the worst PL teams in recent years, one of whom never actually left their own half) off the back of consecutive 3-0 defeats suggests not that great.

So watching the press conference, seems we may have to chuck him in from the start as there's a doubt about Pieters (calf), and Muniesa could be required to play left-back?

I desperately didn't want Ryan to start. Yeah, but as he says "could be needs must" if Pieters is out, and if Texy isn't a serious runner. We've needed a proper left-back option for ages - got to look at it in the summer, surely? Wilson and Muniesa aren't good enough there. Around the 7 minute mark....

Muniesa is ample good enough back up for the left back spot. Problem is, you need your back up to be fit and ready to go when required and that is something Muniesa very rarely is.
He's never let us down at left back and he will be just fine if he's deployed in that position tomorrow

Given both have injury issues I wouldn't be surprised if a left back is signed.
