Walsall home in an FA cup 0-2 defeat, 1966, like many on here I cannot recall my first away day, can't think why! I can remember that Walsall game, Bobby Irvine the Stoke goalie inexplicably kicked "Sniffer Clarke" (later of Leeds fame)and he scored from the resultant penalty. I think that was the last game Irvine ever played for us. My own first home game was as a 8 year old against Doncaster in 1956 I don't remember the score ,but I'm pretty sure Johnny King scored. First away game was against Burslem same season.

Luton 62-63 to clinch promotion - there is film evidence on the farewell to the Vic video (I think) QPR away 68ish, they were down and we missed an 88th minute penalty to equalise - I believe there are cave paintings in Shepherds Bush that commemorate the event

WBA home 83
Arse away 84 when we took about 60 fans.
A baptism of fire and mostly misery, failure, and disappointment, interrupted by short periods of ecstasy.

April 1972 - Stoke City v Manchester United, 2-2. Was just 7 and can't remember much about the game, but have a strong memory of Bobby Charlton's comb over flowing what seemed like yards behind him.
November 1984 - Everton v Stoke City, 4-0. Student in Liverpool and stood in the Gladwys Street Paddock, in front of 4 Glasgow Rangers supporters who were absolutely smashed and sang Rangers songs for 90 minutes. Adrian Heath scored 2 from memory. They won the league that season and we set a new unwanted record...

We didn't do videos in the 50s. and I can't remember who we were playing anyway. I was in short trousers and didn't understand fully what was going on. (and the older I get, the more it feels the same )

As someone has already suggested video hadn't been invented when I first went to see those Mighty Potters. In fact Match of The Day was only just about to start out on BBC when I first went. Was world of Sport on with Dickie Davies =) I miss those days

First home - Palace in play off semi final second leg - lost on penalties.
First away - Wigan in 2010/11 season, 1-1 draw but bossed the game. went to Wigan twice after that and won both times 4-1 & 3-2. I miss going there (may get a chance next season I suppose).

First Home game = 04 April 1997 Oxford United 0-0, record low home crowd that season so I was told, although at 3 years old I was on my grandad's knee at the time so not sure if I was counted in the attendance figures or not as I don't think I was allocated a seat (albeit there would have been a lot spare lol).
First Away game I can ever remember was = 11 August 1998 Macclesfield Town 1-3 in the League Cup I believe.
I'd get footage but you can't type in stoke city and 1998 without getting videos about football hooligans of some kind.
Despite these firsts I was still hooked forever more haha.

Home and away game, provide video if u can find it. First home game 13th Nov 1988 - Stoke 4-0 Hull Scorers - Henry, Beagrie, Hackett & Carr First away game 4th Nov 1989 - Swindon 6-0 Stoke Scorers - who cares but a mention for Bambers og Typical there is a video of us losing 6-0 but not of us beating Hull 4-0 Never seen this footage, remember us trying to hit the scoreboard at the back of the away end with the ball everytime it came into our end....great day out on train and a great end to Mick Mills reign....

First home game would have been some time in the early 60s, I have vague recollections of sitting on the wall in the Butler Street paddock, no idea who it was against.
First away game I have even less idea about, vaguely remember a Derby away game when I was very young, mainly because there was a fair bit of aggro and I saw my uncle being escorted out by two coppers with his arms up his back, they walked right in front of us around the side of the pitch. :D

My first home game was Dennis Viollets testimonial in May '67 v an England world cup X1( Gordon in their goal ) , we lost 7-5. We were in the Butler Street near the Stoke End and I was hooked !
