Sherwood did an amazing job last year?! Are you serious. He took them over hovering on the edge of the relegation zone and they finished 17th! He won 2 games in the FA Cup and found himself in the final. Then they were humiliated there. I always thought the Sherwood bullshit machine didn't fool anyone, but obviously I was wrong. They were in the bottom 3 when he took over. The won 5 of their last 13 games and despite only having to play two games to get to the final, they still played and won those two games. But you know, maybe I'm just being fooled by the solid facts available to me and am not letting the blokes potentially abrasive personality lead me to the obvious, common sense conclusion that the man is a clearly a fraud and those facts don't exist. Oh to be smart like you. so your "solid facts" involve 2 games in a cup and being able to finish 1 place higher than where they were when he took over? facts yes but hardly ones that prove someone to be doing an "amazing job" are they really? if you're using just that to make your judgment then yes, you are being fooled by the solid facts as you haven't bothered to look at the context or actually what happened. moving from 18th to 17th and winning 2 cup games...THEY are the facts mate.

He did an OK job at Spurs and he did an undeniably good job (let's drop the amazing seeing as that word is a bone of contention for people) after coming into a club that didn't look like they were going to survive the drop last year. He completely turned that round, had them safe before the final game and managed to produce excitement with the cup run. People have cited that he benefited from new manager syndrome, but correct me if I'm wrong but he was still only a few games in when they lost to us 1-2, and they were in the relegation zone at that point? New manager syndrome normally suggests a great run of results immediately following an appointment and then a dropoff. It looked to me like they were galvanised to grind out the necessary results after some bad results had already occurred. I think you'll find he had very little say on the transfer dealings in the summer. The crown jewels were forcibly sold and replaced by a huge number of players who are inexperienced at this level. 10 games into the new season he was sacked, and from what I believe a large reason for this was his opposition to the recruitment policy in place at Villa. Things haven't improved since he left, if anything performances have been even more hopeless. The general attitude on here is that the guy is a terrible manager and a fraud. Whilst I wouldn't want him at Stoke, I think it's unfair to say he's those things, much in the same way it was unfair for me and many others to believe Hughes was a terrible manager based on a very poor start to the season at QPR. That is what I disagree with. I don't see where my argument is flawed and certainly don't believe I'm the one who should be accused of stupidity here. All I put forward is the evidence for why I disagree with the widely held view that he is terrible. I don't see a great deal of evidence contradicting that, just smarmy posts.
