Nicolas Cage in The Wicker Man remake has to be seen to be believed. I can't believe they had the nerve to remake this classic. As a comedy, the remake works really well, but the original is one of the best British films of all time and should have been left well-alone. Got to love Cage stealing a bicycle in a bear costume though.

Bill Nighy.. owd one face. Not keen on John Simms, McKenzie Crook, or Simon Pegg. Neither Omid Djalilli nor Stephen Rea have covered themselves in glory in Dickensian. Worst for me is Brando's terrible cotton wool Godfather. Brando had lost interest by the seventies, but watch him again in Streetcar and you'll forgive him for anything.

Worst for me is Brando's terrible cotton wool Godfather. Calling Brando's Godfather role as terrible is a little far fetched. It's one of the most imitated characters of cinema since cinema began. Your a difficult man to please cheese if that performance is below your bar.

Some of the dramatic impact and menace is lost on me because it reminds me of Monty Python's Mr Creosote's final slivers of ham.

But Brando...

Oh and if we're restricting ourselves to pros has anybody ever seen 'Anaconda'. In that Jon Voight and Angelina Jolie manage to have exactly zero chemistry and give the least realistic portrayal of father and daughter I've ever seen. The big rubber snake was the best actor in that nonsense.

I'll definitely give you Shatner in everything else but Star Trek wouldn't have been the same without him. A case of "So bad it's good" for me.

Daisy Ridley in Star Wars - it's either a sexy angry face or a sexy confused face Her great uncle was Arnold Ridley of Dad's Army fame. Sorry if this is a well known fact. I'm not really in the loop with all this celebrity stuff.

I've forgotten his name just now. Jeffrey Hunter ( Captain Christopher Pike ) It was a posthumous appearance as he had died before the episode was screened.

I'll amend it. I don't think Star Trek would have been as successful without William Shatner though.

Clive Owen? He's excellent in Children of Men, playing a depressed drunk with little personality. Don't think I've seen him manage any other character.
I aren't in any position to judge acting talent though.

I suppose we will never know how Star Trek would have turned out had Captain Pike remained in command instead of Kirk , but I do tend to agree with you , Shatner made the show his own and into the success that it was .
