The last homegrown to play first team? Oli Shenton would be the most recent, although only for a couple of minutes.

When I spoke to a mate of mine who is a derby season ticket holder, he said Shotton divided opinion. Some people thought he was their best defender, others thought he was by far the worst.
Shotton was often wrongly scapegoated while at Stoke. A centre half shoe horned to right back that ended up playing right midfield. That shit biscuit lies with Pulis, not Ryan Shotton.
All I saw from shotton was a local lad desperately trying to crack one of the hardest leagues in the world.
I hope it works out for him.

Great coaching by the dinosaur of dinosaurs.

In essence Pulis ended his professional career (but made a transfer profit for SCFC) and and ex England manger/ highly rated coach and Paul Clement couldn't undo the initial harm I've no axe to grind against the lad and hopefully his career will do a dramatic u-turn for him. Don't let you hatred affect rational comment as it seems to do at every opportunity.

Spoke to Ryan this week never mentioned a possible move !, I believe he has just bought the Black Lion in Cheddleton maybe looking longer term, never really rated him as a Prem. player tbh, Pulis ruined the lad as a player not the only one either, hung the lad out to dry playing him out of position again not the only one.

I respect Tony Pulis' contribution to this club a lot more than some on this forum. He's still a special person in Stokes history in my eyes, even if it did turn sour at the end and now. But you're fucking off your face if you think Shotton didn't have his career horribly mismanaged by Pulis. A young talented centre back was fucked about and played at right wing where he looked horribly out of his depth. At right back, he wasn't bad and yet Pulis continued to play him in all sorts of shoe horned roles whether it be left wing or up front. Shots could have been a bit of a Wilko. Instead his career has fallen away thanks mostly due to our ex manager. Simples.

Yeah I bet when, your mate Ryan was playing in the Prenier and Europa League at 22, he thought this fucker's killing my career.
