Butland is a great keeper no question.....but he should make the penalty taker make the decision where to put it instead of making it up for him by moving too early.....he's young and I'm sure he will improve on that part of his game.....w Just watched the highlights, Jack is a brilliant keeper but Mignolet is a known penalty stopper. I'm sure Jack will be working hard on his penno ability and will add that facet to his game in time. He's still very young...time is on his side. I called it at half time. Said to everyone, that if it goes to penalties they are the favourites because Mignolet is better at saving them.

From what we've seen of Butland so far I'm going to confidently predict he'll be one of the best penalty saving keepers in the world within the next two seasons.

I think Jack is far more assured in open play, if he can add penno's to his repertoire then he has the potential to be the very best of the best.

From what we've seen of Butland so far I'm going to confidently predict he'll be one of the best penalty saving keepers in the world within the next two seasons. Why? His technique on penalties is poor. He moves far to early and he does very little in the build up to the penalty itself to make the goals look small. Some keepers are just excellent on penalties. Thomas Sorensen was superb for example, yet some brilliant goalkeepers just don't get near them. Peter Shilton being an obvious example. Begovic being another.

Said it last night but don't know where the post has gone. He's an excellent keeper and he keeps getting better. However, I haven't been confident about us going up against a penalty since Tommy left. Although he was freakishly good at saving them, I feel Jack either doesn't do his homework on the opposition or just hasn't developed a technique. Most, if not all penalties we've conceded he goes to the right without much of a fight.
Mignolet made a good safe to stop up going through, but he's an absolute toss keeper I wouldn't want anywhere near our squad.

He is still only young, and will work on penalties. Don't forget the marvellous save against Chelski!
