Top Goal Keeper but.... He did very little during the Penalty shoot out to tip the scales in Stoke's favour. Mongeloid did everything he could to get into the heads of Stoke players, kicking posts, waving arms, dancing, punching cross bar etc Butland's stance with hands on knees was also very strange. Needs to do more, very frustrating. I think you'll look back at this post tomorrow and think WTF Neutrals are saying the same things. Read around.

Even if the goalie quests the right way, penalties are very hard to save if taken with conviction. Muiesa's and Crouch's were a bit tentative. However, it is what it is - onwards and upwards. Bring onPalace.

Jack never should have been in the position where he was having to keep us in the cup!!
Fantastic effort, Jack, congratulations, we win some, we lose some

I thought our supporters behind the goal were rubbish. Should have been more dynamic during the Liverpool penalties.

Jack is a great keeper no question....but he should let the forward make the decision where to put the ball and not move too soon and so making it easy for them where to put it....he's young he will get better on that part of his game....

Sorry Op but using the word mongeloid (though spelt incorrectly) makes me think that you're being a c**t on purpose.
All their penalties that went in were well taken two of ours weren't that's all there is too it

Are we just going to forget about the Chelsea shootout where he made a world class save to keep out a genuine world class player?

I think you'll look back at this post tomorrow and think WTF Neutrals are saying the same things. Read around. The same neutrals that are saying that Liverpool deserved to go through? So Butland gets his whole penalty shootout strategy wrong, and with hindsight, if he'd had the ability to read the Oatcake first, we'd have won.

Tonight it was Mignolet, against chelsea it was Jake. To have a go at Jake is sad.

Goalkeepers are all different. I would say Asmir wasnt a particular penalty specialist, whereas Sorro was a master at penalties

I'm sure Jack will be working hard on his penno ability and will add that facet to his game in time. He's still very young...time is on his side.

I'm not going to criticise any Stoke player after last night, and certainly not Butland.
It would be interesting to see what Butland's history is with penalties though, because he's faced 12 penalties from right footers against Chelsea and Liverpool, and dived right 10 times out of 12.
If this is a trend then I wonder if Liverpool did their homework, 5 of their 7 went the other way.

The rule change few years ago that allows the keeper to move before the kick is taken has subtely given the advantage to the clever penalty taker. Benteke exploited this to full advantage by stopping momentarily on his run up giving him a split second to see Jack dive one way and placing the ball in the opposite corner.

Needs to do more, very frustrating. I'm not going to criticise Jack for his performance in last nights game as he didn't do anything wrong and covered every shot they had in open play and the dippers were nullified by our outstanding defence and Butland together. Let's be honest regarding the penalties, young Jack went the wrong way for all but one and I think he committed too soon making it easier (not easy) to find the net. Minion stood poised and focused and got the direction right on all but one. It only takes one to win a game and by Christ it did, but to pick fault with Jacks performance is foolish, perhaps we do need to acknowledge that his inexperience showed in the shoot out - he will learn from last night, of this I have absolutely no doubt, after all seven clean sheets in the PL isn't a fluke but class.

Tommy is playing for Melbourne isn't he. I'm sure Andy Quy will be working on this with Jack. Or maybe a couple of sessions with John Farmer who once saved two Jimmy Greaves penos in one game

In hindsight I should have began the thread congratulating every Stoke player on their efforts and Performance last night including Jack. We did not deserve that. My comments / observations / criticism (depending on how sensitive or hysterical you are) were actually taken from someone I was watching the game with someone who just happens to be GK. As I said small margins, as they did last night, win games. Not blaming him just an observation. Thanks to Admin for removing some of the special comments from the resident bottom feeding posters.

I thought our supporters behind the goal were rubbish. Should have been more dynamic during the Liverpool penalties. I've just watched the penalties back and thought exactly the same thing. Nothing at all (apart from one bloke) to put them off from behind the goal. I was over in the corner but watching that back has really surprised me.
