Shawcross was the real reason for our improvement in recent times. Our midfield offers no protection and gets overrun too often. This is a huge wake up call. Totally agree. We are just weak in the central midfield. Completely lost the battle in there too. I've thought it for a long time, it's just simply too easy to get at our centre halves. I think we need a defensive midfielder who is tough & nasty & can impose himself on the game & grab the team by the scruff of the neck if it isn't going well. Apparently, we've got one..........

They were shit mate. They certainly won't be top for long if they play like that every week. Yeah they must be shit playing like that and being top of the league! Thank God we are better than they are!! Leicester have been absolutely fabulous this season until recently. They've had a bit of a blip in form and confidence and if you could've chosen anytime to play them today would've been the day. Today, they continued to play lacking in confidence and honestly not ONCE during the game were we under any SUSTAINED pressure. They weren't playing any of the flashy high tempo football they had earlier in the season, and even as average as they were, we made them look like Barcelona and made ourselves look like Crewe, a fucking bunch of fairies with no idea.

There's no hiding place We've been fucking awful. That said some of the vitriol and over reaction has been more embarrassing than the utter dog shit on the pitch. We move on and go for it Tuesday night. There's a small minority on here who clear don't like Mark Hughes(probably because they never wanted him here )and never miss a trick in sticking the boot in. Well milky, that's as contradictory a remark I've read on this thread. "That said some of the vitriol and over reaction has been more embarrassing than the utter dog shit on the pitch". Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. After all, it is a public forum. It was dog shit.Im not going to pretend it wasn't. It's the Kevin The Teenager type reactions I'm talking about. Some behave like petulant teenagers who have been told it's bedtime.

But can he? I hope he can. But his record with other teams perhaps hint at no;no matter how much money he can throw at the problem. Which record are you looking at/making up? Fulham 8th. Blackburn 6th and 7th.

Or alternatively they got a lucky deflected goal and all their confidence came back, we lost Shawcross and ours disappeared.

I feel angry.
There's nothing worse than a toothless defeat and today was just embarrassing. I think I'm normally fairly level headed after a defeat, can usually warm to the effort or maybe some injustice that swung the momentum against us, but I'm not having today's utter shite at all.
If we can pick ourselves up for Liverpool I'll be fucking gobsmacked.

To attack you need a strong midfield otherwise your forwards are playing as fullbacks. Only Affaley, Woolli and to a limited extent Johnson can be pleased with their performance today. Not slagging the others off but they were poor and we lost to a better side on the day.

The worst thing about this defeat will be watching Lineker's smarmy grin when he's introducing the game on MOTD tonight. Don't watch it then Good point. Only problem is, win, lose or draw, I just can't help myself watching the highlights and then listening in to what the pundits have to say about our latest display.

Squad quality is still threadbare when faced with a couple of injuries. Proper backing needed for Hughes, for once. Yes cus we haven't backed him before have we. Bollocks !! Sorry, must be my mistake that I thought that as TV money has gone up, spending has gone down drastically. Thanks for correcting me.

We do like to chuck these absolutely horrible performances in every now and again. And, Christ, this must be the absolute worst of the season, alongside Sunderland and West Brom. Hard to find any positives at all. Shockingly limp. Didn't lay a f*****g glove on them at any stage. Today was 10 times worse than West Brom and Sunderland, at least we were in the game at West Brom until that late goal and drawing with Sunderland until the sending off, this was easily by a country mile the worse show of the season, embarrassing! He's been a good servant & value for money, but we must upgrade in that position. Its an unpopular opinion to have, but I truly believe we need a better defensive midfield.

First of all I assume more than half the posters on this thread, like me, did not actually go to the game. I apologise to those who did. Losing three none after so much excitement for the future it is always going to be so diappointing to swallow a result like this. As a consequence I always expect the brainless comments I hear. Such as the one I am listening to now suggesting John Walters should be tried at centre back. From what I hear it wasn't a great performance but that the scoreline was flattering. Having watched a high percentage of this seasons games I have formed a number of conclusions and opinions that I think some up our season:- 1. We are close to entering a new era for Stoke City but are not quite there yet. 2. The names Butland,Muniesa,Johnson, Shawcross,Whelan, Pieters, Affelay, Shaqiri, Bojan, Joselu and Arnautovic show we have players who have the flair and skill to compete with the best but it is only eleven players in a squad of twenty five and although we have other players who bring some quality to the squad the base line is that they are not good enough. 3. In Walters, Adam, Wilson, Crouch, Odemwinge, Diouf and others we have players with a good work ethic but they are not good enough to compete at the top level. 4. Walters has played a major roll in our progress. He has scored some important and great goals in our progress. He has a tremendous work ethic but he is not a goal scorer of the type we need. His dribbling and passing skills are poor. He does not cross the ball well! 5. Because expectation levels are very high our fans tend to be the most fickle in the country! 6. I still believe we have every chance of getting to WEembley this season. Liverpool have let four goals in today and their defence is not great. We will need our players to be at their best and this time Hughes needs to out tactic Klopp.

I suggest you might answer your own question. Or if you want me to put it in your terms: Exeter 1 Liverpool 1 made Liverpool as good as Exeter Stoke 6 Liverpool 1

That's how they've got to the top of the table When I said 'They've been' I meant today. Today they were poor. They were there for the taking. I have watched a lot of Leicester this season and they were very sloppy compared to their usual high tempo, clinical fast passing and sustained attacking pressure. We however, Nantwich Town would've beaten us today.

Today's results are fucking irrelevant to Tuesday.
We failed to dampen the Leicester love-in, time to focus on the Klopp jizz-fest.
