Arsene Wenger is an absolute master at drawing attention away from the fact that his team still can't beat us. All the focus is on how we were physical and our fans are animals. Attachment Deleted The media are puppets and he is the master.

Hi guys, Arsenal fan comes in peace! Firstly, I just wanted to congratulate you chaps on a decent season so far. Hughes has got you playing some exciting football and i've obviously cheered you on several times this season against our rivals. Onto this old chestnut - At the time of the incident (cant believe it was 6 years ago already, i'm getting so old:() I was obviously furious and calling Ryan every single name under the sun, but even then I accepted that it was more a freak accident than any kind of mallice. 6 years later, I cannot understand why fans (from both clubs) are still so bitter and hung up on something that happens in contact sport fairly regularly. Like many have stressed on here, Ramsey didn't die and although I was upset at the time, I quickly realised he would undergo surgery and rehab at the hands of some of the best medical professionals in the business. He has access to medical care and rehabilitation/physios that most of us couldn't even dream of. I used to play a lot of sunday league football and I am a complete waif (5'8 and built like a beanpole) but I used to absolutely love the physical side of things and a scrappy game. I used to get brutally taken out (usually fairly) and I would only cry about it if the tackle was really intentionally reckless. Otherwise, the odd shove, elbow off the ball was what it was all about? let them know you're there etc. I cannot understand the modern mindset of people who want to completely erase contact/tackling from football and cry about it when teams get a little physical against us. It's embarrassing to be honest and i'm not trying to be a hardman, because i'm really not haha, but if i was getting roughed up in a game, I would either play harder (to make them look stupid) or i would get physical back and the rest of the team would fight for eachother. I'm tired of our fans whining at every hard tackle. We absolutely hate playing you guys at The Brittania. You can see it in our body language and the way we get so nervous. I love the Emirates as work of architecture, but I have to say I am very jealous of your atmosphere. The Emirates is only like that at select moments throughout the season - our away fans are pretty good though..shame its so hard for the working class Arsenal fan to get a ticket. You guys didnt even get particularly physical with us yesterday, you played good football and it was a pretty even match all things considered. We were hanging on in the second half towards the end and it could've gone either way. As for the Ramsey chants - well its just banter in my opinion. He makes his millions, i'm sure he can put up with randoms shouting at him for 180 minutes per year and like others have said, there are FAR worse chants out there. Anyway, that's my two-cents on the issue. Not all of us Arsenal fans are complete bellends! I wish you luck for the rest of the season and hope you can dump Liverpool out of the league cup, not to mention take some more points off our rivals:) Write to wenger, tell that cunt. He fans the flames every time he comes here. He is the biggest reason it's still about

I think people are reading into that a little too much. You guys did make it physical and you were direct? Nothing wrong with either of those things.
I suppose I can see how it could be considered inflammatory given the history, but i genuinely dont think thats what he was trying to do here.

I wasn't at the match. When did the chant actually first begin? Was it the corner kick, or was it when someone kicked him up the arse in the first half and he started limping? If the latter then surely it can be explained away as a bit of match commentary. It was when he felt a bit of contact from another player and he put on an exaggerated limp, as is the Arsenal way. I'm amazed this thread has got so far without this being mentioned. That's how I pieced it together watching on the stream. I imagined that he was hobbling around after trying to win a foul (the typical Arsenal cheat ) , and we'd latched onto a controversial old chant to fit the occasion. So many fans were singing it (at least that's how it sounded), it was the only way it made sense. A joke, albeit a joke with a large dose of spite to make a point.

I wish you luck for the rest of the season and hope you can dump Liverpool out of the league cup, not to mention take some more points off our rivals:) Afternoon and welcome to the Oatcake, the unfriendliest football forum in England To be fair, I found it quite tough, reading that.... firstly because I hate praise and secondly because you're being far too reasonable You sure you're an Arsenal fan ? The problem is, as I've said already, there's a perpetual loop in that Arsenal fans chant about Ryan, then Stoke fans chant about Ramsey and the cycle continues. I think there's a certain level of hatred from Arsenal fans that perhaps only a few on this forum (me included) share in your direction, but it's always nice when someone like yourself comes on with a reasonable response because it isn't you my 'vitriol' (as it was called earlier) is aimed at. I do feel both players could have made more of an effort to sort this, although surely some of it has to lie at Ramsey's door. He doesn't appear to be interested in resolving the issue. There shouldn't be anything to resolve. They just need to put it behind them. Both players have gone on to be very good and there's no reason for any animosity between them. I get the impression Ramsey does hold a lot more than Ryan though. Who knows what's going on in their minds though? As for it being banter, well, as you can see, it's split our own fanbase, let alone the media opinion, so you must be one of the very few Arsenal fans who thinks it was banter. For me, I've just considered it fair game, more than anything else. Arsenal fans taunt Ryan, Stoke fans taunt Aaron, the whole thing could and should be avoided but seemingly 6 years later, it continues. It was the least physical Stoke Arsenal game since our promotion, which I don't think is a bad thing although historically we've been able to get success by being a bit more rough with you. Few teams will pass you off the park. Still a point was fair for both teams. Cheers for your very reasoned response.

They also seem to believe their team is immune of any sort of physical opposition whilst given free reign to nobble & cheat the same opposition. Cheers for your sensible words, they are a breath of fresh air.

I can promise you that the entire Arsenal fan base WOULD be as split on what is deemed acceptable at/before/after a football match as Stoke fans are; with some morally unacceptable and un-reprehensible to others that are completely devoid of any animosity towards other fans. To say they are united in hatred of Stoke City and that every Arsenal fan condones the terrible things that "individual" Arsenal fans say on match day is ridiculous as it is abhorrent.. Is it really abhorrent? It's an opinion, my opinion and I base it on what I see. I was referring to the abhorrent individual tweets from Arsenal fans that you quoted in your rant. They are truly abhorrent and most Arsenal fans would be as disgusted by them as you were.

Do that it will stop the Stoke fans from stirring the resentment and it will stop the Arsenal fans from baiting Shawcross. We all have to move on."
