Seems a very intelligent and considered man. The club looks in safe hands!

Who was the player who had 17 agents? Arismendi. I thought Scholes came across very well.

Arismendi. I thought Scholes came across very well. What's he doing with his life nowadays? Still CEO of Stoke City I think.

When the new hierarchy at fifa get their act together, one of the first things they need to do is make it illegal for agents to receive any money from clubs. Agents representing players should be paid by the players only. Far too much money is haemorrhaging from the game and into the pockets of agents.

08.33 This morning...
Stoke boss Mark Hughes is flattered by interest from Manchester United but told the gathered media that talk at this stage is just 'speculation'.
"There's a lot of speculation. That goes with the territory," Hughes said. "It's probably better to be talked up than talked down. I've had both, and I know which I prefer."

Man Utd will not appoint Mark Hughes so don't worry. As for him wanting to be praised rather than abused, is that so bad?

We have come such a long way since it was decided to put into place a proper structure to support the football management team. The span of our recruitment has seen us move from chasing Carlton Cole and Lovechild Ledley to securing the likes of Shaq, Bogan and Arnie.
Real teamwork between a manager who has real quality contacts, a professional recruitment team and a CEO who gets the deals over the line.

Also seen us tray and fail to get a Crystal Palace reserve midfielder at 10 to 6 on deadline day to replace Walters. Slick.

To me he's like a junior car salesman i.e. having to keep running to his boss to make sure he can get the right deal. My guess it's Hughes who convinces the players to sign.

I think you should try and remember where we have come from in the last three years. If you are unable to see the massive improvement secured through the professionalism of the manager and the support team you need help.

Yep, all the deals that go through are all down to Mark Hughes and the deals that don't are down to Tony Scholes.

I have no doubt that Hughes impresses the players but I doubt he deals with the negotiations with the players club, sorts out the contract and deals with the agents.

To be fair, that was deemed plan Z to replace a certain characteristic in the squad should Walters have left. I can remember a time when that was our only hope/plan in a window.

The strides this club has made in the last three seasons is there for all to see. The backroom staff have to take a great deal of credit for that as well as the management team. I've noticed the "shit windows brigade" have gone quiet lately

Is that the sound of goalposts moving. When a certain manager was here he was responsible for every aspect of every deal. Well the bad ones anyway.

Players do not come here because of Mark hughes reputation
His reputation helps to get them to have a look but cold hard cash gets them to sign
