Players do not come here because of Mark hughes reputation His reputation helps to get them to have a look but cold hard cash gets them to sign I would suggest his reputation more than helps!

It's only a part of the process though. If the execs at the back don't do their job, due diligence etc the player isn't signing. It can't be easy to deal with a player that arrives with multiple agents

It can't be easy to deal with a player that arrives with multiple agents Agreed but without Hughes none of them would make it that far. Of course, we don't know this but the coincidence of the arrival of Hughes and our suddenly attracting these type of players could have fuck all to do with our recruitment team and everything to do with Hughes. I'm sure we can agree that none of this would have happened if the old manager was here. His dossier, after extensive study of overseas coaching methods, was about promoting the academy, wasn't it?

What's he doing with his life nowadays? Still CEO of Stoke City I think. It was the obvious answer but i doff my proverbial cap for being quickest off the mark :-)

but I doubt he deals with the negotiations with the players club, sorts out the contract and deals with the agents. Is that the sound of goalposts moving. When a certain manager was here he was responsible for every aspect of every deal. Well the bad ones anyway. Correct, and when we got the professional team in yours truly got sand in his vagina about it

Couldn't agree more. The strides this club has made in the last three seasons is there for all to see. The backroom staff have to take a great deal of credit for that as well as the management team. I've noticed the "shit windows brigade" have gone quiet lately In May Mark Hughes was a paid up member of the 'shit window' brigade. Yeah I'm sure he was.

Who are you by the way? A previous deleter who got 'sand in their vagina'?

I know you may have missed it but the current team was put into place roughly three years ago. It has succeeded in completely changing the quality and value of our recruitment ever since. I guess you do not need me to tell you what the final straw was in bringing the change about. Should you not be rejoicing in the improvement?

Who are you by the way? A previous deleter who got 'sand in their vagina'? I think we had a timely reminder of how far ahead of our previous game we now are from the WBA press conference yesterday. Their current manager who has spent £32m in the previous window on players we would generally have on our subs bench and worse was bleating that his plan of action is to wait for crumbs to drop from the table. You must be delighted we don't have to rely on such horseshit thinking and listen to such utter bollocks? m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/35209738

Let them eat clichés. With regards to winning loyalty from fans, Pulis doesn't do himself any favours does he.

I'm absolutely delighted that the manager keeps performing miracles. As he said in May, we can't really expect to keep getting away with what we're doing. Let's hope we can satisfy him this time around, eh?

I'm giving due credit where it is due and will criticise when it's deserved. With regards to your previous post you will note we broke our transfer record after the remark you refer to. Have you heard any complaints from Mark Hughes with regards to last summers business?. I'm sure you will agree the excellence of the recruitment during that window becomes more evident week by week? We have seen of late the increasing contributions to our continuous improvement by the likes of Afellay, Joselu and Van Ginkel to add to the obvious star quality Shaqiri brought. Johnson has been contributing wonderfully from day one. I'm sure you would agree that the value we have had compared to the £32m spent by WBA at the same time is breathtaking and you will join with the majority of Stoke supporters in applauding Hughes and the rest of the back stage team in bringing this about.

Came over as a 'Risk averse' 'smart arse'
and plainly he's read the textbook on risk management
e.g in the event of (state Uncertainty) there is a risk of ( stated risk) resulting in the following ( possible outcomes)
which - you then rate on a PIG (probability impact Grid) and then proceed to model using a 'Monte Carlo' statistical analyisis technique
and so it goes on - He is plainly failing to do this off field presently
My take
Nice enough bloke BUT
I feel he may have reached his limit with us if he continues to fail to address stadium capacity problems we now suffer from
