Don't forget his impending court case. Bullet dodged in terms of the negative publicity that would have brought to the club.

I thought he was a great player for us, I cant be bitter that he wanted to better himself (Ive wanted to myself over the years but as I have personal ties with Stoke, Ill always be a Stokie). I genuinely thought we'd struggle without him but Cameron has been awesome the last couple of games and Whelan has stepped up to the challenge too. Good luck to NZonzi but even better luck to the mighty Potters.

Did he ever get in the French squad in the end?

N'Zonzi was a class act for us but I really do think Cameron could go on to be an even greater influence on our team.. which is something I never thought I'd say, as much as I rate him. Totally agree,I've long thought Geoff if given time in that position could replace him....perhaps not as spunkingly silky but with more grit and determination.

Absolutely no way; it would send all the wrong messages to the other players. One of the most important things the club must do now is renew contracts with all key players whose contracts are running out in <2 years.

Afellay is a class above, more skilful, better passer and finisher, works harder. And always looks to move the ball forward as his first instinct

I think people are getting a little carried away here. Yes we're doing fine without him and although in hindsight he may have been putting himself in the shop window, he was fucking brilliant for us last season and an integral part of our spine. Very fickle to suggest otherwise.

How often does he start in Sevilla? Is he happy there? Can we sign him back in January? The way it's going he probably regrets shunning Leicester...

Loved N'Zonzi, he was a berk to leave in my opinion. But I wouldn't take him back now This squad is just unbelievable and we don't need characters like him now. A berk to back his own ability to play in the Champions League? Come off it It might not be going great for him at the moment but it could still work out for him. Exactly look at Bojan at the beginning of last season. A decent run and a stand out performance changes things.

Seville are having a pretty similar season to us in the league (mid table after a poor start).
N'Zonzi appears to be having a similar season to Affelay(taken a while to settle/early sending off etc).
The main difference is Seville and N'Zonzi have played Champion's League.
I don't think many players would regret making a decision to go to a Champion's League team from one of the best and biggest leagues in the world.

After camerons and affaleys performance on Saturday we don't need him, affaley holds the ball just as good and we are more of an attacking threat

Wouldn't begrudge him if he came back. Some people highlight a CM as a position we should be looking to fill and N'Zonzi here, not as a guaranteed starter would be excellent. Some people forget that aside from being consistently available and pretty much playing every minute of every game, he also ran the furthest, has great aerial presence, composure and was the player of the year.
I wouldn't obviously pay his buyout, but for the same price we got it's a no brainer. Sidwell and MVG out, N'Zonzi in.
A CM pool of Afellay, Whelan, Adam, Cameron, Ireland and N'Zonzi... nice.

Nope. Don't need him. Have trouble getting the 18 let alone the starting eleven. Good ridance. Bad influence. He'd walk into that midfield.

Yeah he sulked a little, but overall he participated in team photos with the other lads and was a class act on the pitch. He didn't bad mouth the club either did he?

He'd walk into that midfield. and then pass it sideways Over 2000 passes last season, 1377 of which were forward. 33 key passes, 34 chances created and 85% pass completion. But he's left now so let's all come together and label him a Championship at best crab etc.

He was an excellent player for us but he was never irreplaceable. Both Adam and Cameron have stepped in nicely. A lot of people, including myself, would still like to see how Muniesa would go in that position. Then there are the new recruits Van Ginkel, young and with potential and Afellay, who with a run of games may be the best of all.

That's true, but I can't see us going to the expense we have to develop a player for Chelsea without having some type of deal in place to either take him permanently or some other dastardly and sinister deal.

I've always rated Nzonzi as a top player and when he went I wondered how we would fare without him. Saturday's performance gave me the answer. I'm not interested in him now.

The way the cookie crumbles I'm afraid, he's one of those players where he can be a top player at a middling club or a bit part player at a side seeking higher finishes.

I hope he's furious with himself. I hope he regrets it to the point of despair. I rated Nzonzi, he'd have excelled in this seasons Stoke side but he was desperate to piss off. The fact is, it got tiresome hearing of his annual transfer requests and it was also, quite frankly fucking insulting too. He was a big player for us to lose but actually I'm glad he fucked off only for it to appear to go shit shaped for him, it's karma for being such a petulant little fuck face !! How D'ya like them fucking apples Steven !!

Made it pretty clear he didn't want to be there. Disgrunted employee = toxic employee. Need to get rid of 'em because they are bad for morale. I don't believe Stoke made much of an effort to keep him, which tells you a lot.

How often does he start in Sevilla? Is he happy there? Can we sign him back in January? Why would he regret it? He has started the last 5 league games (including a win over Real Madrid) and is first choice in the midfield! Only thing is that they play a weakened team in Champions league where he hasn't made that many appearances!

Bet he's gutted living in a beautiful city, in the sun, playing pretty regularly, playing in the Champions League.
Strange thread.

And a thousand miles away from his ex-wife who has had him charged with GBH.
Honestly I expect he has made the best decision for Stephen Nzonzi's bank account and jail time.
I doubt he's regretting it one iota
