I know we always harped on about not giving a fuck what people said about us (and to a large extent, I still don't, even when they're sucking us off), but you can't help but think the more we turn into media darlings, the easier it will be to sign players; which is obviously very exciting.
More of the same please, Beeb!

Obviously yesterday was all about just how well we played and how technically superb we were. However there was a moment very early on in the game that for me, told Man City in no uncertain terms that we weren't in the mood to be pissed about with. We sit high up in Block 23 so had a great view of the (yet again) outstanding Erik Pieters running at full pace and steaming through (while fairly and squarely winning the ball) Bacary Sagna who was left visibly shaken by the challenge much to the Stokie's delight who were sat near to the incident. From then on we played some quite simply sublime football but with no little steel when required too. Perhaps I'm putting too much emphasis on that early tackle but for me it can take something like that to create the spark that performances like yesterday are born out of. Bloody proud of them all! Lol.... I was about to post a thread about this incident. I sit in block 23 too although probably lower than you. Sagna was chasing the ball and Pieters had no right to win it, yet Sagna bottled it pretty badly. That's Arsenal DNA for you.

It was a good performance, granted. One of the best performances? You'd have to go a long way to beat the performance of TC and Co against Arsenal in 70 IMO

I have to say this comment made me laugh
'I have to admit. The transformation that Stoke has gone through in recent years is rather impressive. They look like a football team now and not like someone send a bunch of hooligans on the pitch to harass the other team for 90 minutes.'

Lots of TV money and a manager who used to play for Barcelona. Plus, who wouldn't want to play with the Balon D'Or winner-elect Jonny Walters?

I'm not sure that the 'foreign' players really understand the fan "banter" but the likes of Hart and, dare I say it, Andy Carroll, take it for what it is and have a laugh. Obviously there are also plenty of British players who are also major bellends, or John Terry's to give them their proper names.

There's only one wish I have remaining from Stoke City FC.
We've achieved promotion, we've stayed up, we've got to a cup final, we've played in Europe, we've evolved our style, but we've yet to fucking hammer United in the league, please tick that one off for me boys and I can die a happy man.

Most of the compliments were self-serving and egocentric. They emanate from a mixture of schadenfreude and the anticipation of beating West Ham to take top spot. There is only one rule for Man Utd gloryhunting bastards: always remember that they are arrogant tossers and never give them any consideration at all. But the comment about Shaqiri looking like an Oompa Loompa made me chuckle. Couldn't disagree more , the comments are surprisingly complimentary ! I think your bring a tad disingenuous to be honest !

Not a reader of the Mail and its right wing almost fascist views, but I do like to review our match reports on a Sunday in all the press (I enjoy reading the biased comments from other teams supporters usually, with the odd compliment as we have had from lots of teams messageboards this weekend) The Independent, Telegraph and Guardian are all great reports and very complimentary, but I stumbled on the Mail report, which in itself isnt too bad, but then I noticed this gem at the bottom (player ratings) www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3347253/Stoke-City-2-0-Manchester-City-Marko-Arnautovic-bags-brace-Mark-Hughes-rampant-punish-visitors-emphatic-display.htmlStoke City (4-3-3): Butland 6.5; Johnson 6.5, Shawcross 6, Wollscheid 6.5, Pieters 6.5; Afellay 6 (Walters 85), Whelan 6, Cameron 6; Shaqiri 8, (Van Ginkel 77) Arnautovic 7, Bojan 7.5 (Joselu 72, 6) Subs not used: Haugaard (Gk), Wilson, Adam, Diouf, Goals: Arnautovic 7, 15 Manchester City (4-2-3-1): Hart 6; Sagna 5, Otamendi 6, Demichelis 5, Kolarov 5.5; Fernando 5, Fernandinho 5.5 (Delph 56, 5.5); De Bruyne 6, Silva 6 (Navas 62, 6), Sterling 6; Bony 5.5 (Iheanacho 56, 5.5) Subs not used: Caballero (Gk), Clichy, Garcia, Humphreys Booked: Otamendi Referee: Martin Atkinson 5.5 Attendance: 27,264 Man of the match: Shaqiri Are they taking the piss? Our defence given 6 and 6.5s for a clean sheet against Man City, making them look like amateurs? Afellay/Cameron/Whelan 6? Every player was a minimum 7.5-8 for me!! GCam was excellent, and the 4 lads up top were all 8s and 9s! Not sure what Aktinson did to piss the reporter off, 5.5 seems a tad harsh - he might be a complete big team biased twatbag but he wasnt too bad yesterday - a steady 7!

He always seems to come to the fore as far as banter is concerned and always takes it in good jest. He's clapped both the SS and Boothen at the end of halves in the past. Always liked the bloke, genuinely nice guy.
