Supporting stoke and attending all away games in that season was an amazing experience.
Our away support was second to nobody. We took thousands everywhere. Every team had their biggest attendance of the season against us.
The atmosphere was electric because the team was superb and we had the very, very special mark stein amongst our ranks.

Love Stoke being in the top flight, but my happiest times following The Potters were during "The Lou Years" when away games suddenly became winnable.

Arsenal away this season. lost 2 0 with 30 odd shots on target from the arse, every away game is winnable eh. Im a Stoke fan mate, but I am also a realistic one....Sunderland away this weekend is as winnable as they come but I will take a draw at this moment in time

Love Stoke being in the top flight, but my happiest times following The Potters were during "The Lou Years" when away games suddenly became winnable. This! I know the league that we're in is now much higher and we have the pleasure of watching world class footballers week in week out playing for us or against us, but in all my years watching Stoke (since 76-77 season), the very best times came under Lou, and in particular the 92-93 season. We were awesome, we went into every game, home or away, feeling that we could probably win and whatever the division, Steino was probably the best striker in England at that time hence why Chelsea came calling shortly after we were promoted. Great times to be a fan and plenty of enjoyable weekends on the back of those performances. What felt better, the day after we beat West Brom (either game!) or today in the super-glossy prem where we've just woken up to the memory of how piss-poor yesterday was?

Back in 1992 I reckon 75% of the away following would be male 17- 35 so a lot had disposable income .Todays kids pay more for property and all run cars. They just don't fancy spending so much on a day at the footy. Aye, possesions mean more than experiences these days to most people so they'd rather spend £700 on the latest iPhone rather than go to 7 away Premier League games. That and there's so much more competing for attention.
