Delph IS the Whelan replacement. At 27 he has arguably his best years ahead of him. If there is the chance he would make the move then we have to do all we can to get him here. His distribution is unbelievable and he breaks up play and orchestrates play extremely well. In my opinion, his orchestration and organisation of the team he plays in is one of his best qualities. Glenn does a lot of that and it's what we miss when he is not in the side. Whelan was immense against The Shit, he really was, as he is at his best when you have to play or play a defensive, backs to the wall style. It's the converting it to attack with great distribution and composure that he lacks. Delph doesn't.

No complaints with bayerns view of Allen from me. He's right. He was never the player we needed. He was never going to take Whelan's place, he was never going to fill the giant shaped n'zonzi boots and he was always going to be shoe horned into a 3 man midfield because he wasn't/isn't good enough to be part of a two man midfield. I think he's crap. He is dean whitehead in disguise and I know stoke fans will vote him as our player of the year because he runs around a lot. Yeah, very similar player to Whitehead.Allen has scored 5 goals in 20 odd games,Whitehead scored 3 in 4 seasons. You don't rate him, that's fine.Comparing him to Whitehead is ridiculous.

Must admit, that looks an incredibly uncreative midfield 3. Wouldn't really expect them to chip in with many goals, would you? No, Allen is goal shy and Afellay is just a glorified sweeper/hatchet man...and what with Glenn and Charlie being so prolific we'd dry up. That wasn't really the point I was making. Our current midfield 3 struggle for goals as it is, and I think that the 3 you've suggested would hardly remedy that. Stats for the last 4.5 seasons: Ibby: 7 goals, 4 assists Delph: 5 goals, 5 assists Allen: 10 goals, 4 assists (including his purple patch couple of weeks for us and Wales in Sep/Oct, where he scored half of those) Adam (who, by comparison, is very 'prolific'): 19 goals, 11 assists Personally, I'd like to think that 2 out of those 3, plus a more forward-minded ACM, would be a better combination.

Both headless chickens who do too much running and it hinders their game. Allen is a footballing version at least.

He is a rich mans Dean Whitehead in my opinion. Runs around a lot, second touch is a tackle. The similarities are alarming despite the fact that he happened to have a golden spell in front of goal earlier in the season.

Ibby was a 1 in 5 for PSV so in a more advanced role for us he could notch more. Personally I would have preferred a midfield including Bojan as that attacking player but we're not playing that way it seems. You never know he may see Bera as that player to play off Crouch? Who knows? Either way Delph as a Whelan upgrade would be immense.

Allen's shite now is he?
Fucking hell, all those experts selecting him in the Euro 2016 Team of the Tournament must know nothing compaed to bayern. And all those people who've got him as our hands-down player of the year (so far) must be clueless too.
I've never read such garbage (well, not since I logged on yesterday).

Allen is far from shite but it can't be denied that his arrival has disrupted our midfield somewhat.
