Correct. If I heard it right it should have been the minutes silence followed by the Last Post so it was the bugler fucked up. It was the same in every game. The only fuck up was that of the stadium announcer. Regardless it was poignant and impeccably observed. Correct.

Am I being stupid here? How can it be a "silence" if a bugler is playing & this is being amplified over the stadium's tannoy?? A minute's silence to remember those who have fought, & continue to fight, for this great country isn't really too much to ask for is it. Seemingly for us as a football club it is. We will remember them. Careful you don't get vertigo and pass out up on that soap-box. It's not the execution that's important, it's the intent behind it; and the intent was fucking perfect.

I thought it was odd how there wasn't a silence as well as the first post but I thought it was nice.
I did start thinking half through the last post though...."shit, this is going on, is it a silence after, is this the not so silent silence, what will they think on the tv if we roar and it's meant to be silence.....shiiiiiiiiiiit.........".
Then the ref blew his whistle and what I thought was a very good moment was created.

Blowing the whistle was the first of a catalogue of hopeless decisions from a worthless referee. Was I the only person who found it incredibly tasteless that the Sky cameramen were poking their cameras right in the Chelsea players' faces during the last post? I said at the time I was pissed off that there was a Stoke cameraman walking round for the whole 60 seconds, picking bags up etc. Just stand still for a minute for fuck sake

Who gives a fuck. It was one of the best well observed minutes silence I had heard. Not a sound from anyone in the crowd. Very respectful Absolutely 100% agree ! i couldn't care less if it wasn't supposed to work how it did, but do you know what i may be a little more layed back than most, but I thought at the time what a great touch that we replaced the minutes silence with the last post. The hairs on the back of my neck stood up throughout and anyone who has decided to turn what happened into a moan needs to take a real good look at yourselves !

Agree with this but to make it clear to people who don't know what a last post is they should have said the minutes silence starts after the trumpet player finishes that way everyone would understand including the ref!

Anthony taylor is a knob though and again blew his whistle too soon proving before kick off he is a twat

Also the military had a great reception from the Chelsea fans. Reciprocated when the Stoke fans clapped Bobby Campbell

He just said after the last post I think? but if you can't even hear that then there is no chance really, it was a minute anyway and for me it was a whole lot more than just silence.

Ours was the same as all other grounds as they showed on MOTD, no mess up, I just think the tannoy described it wrong!

I assumed the tannoy announcer got his lines wrong. I think he's shit anyway, likes the sound of his voice.

Does it really matter? Absolute silence and respect from everyone during the Last Post, which was done brilliantly by the bugler. It's the thought that counts, and during that melancholy bugle call there can't be a single person who wasn't reflecting on all the service personel who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
OS.

Just watched the Villa / Shitty minutes silence and Last Post. They did it exactly the same as we did yesterday. So it was clearly the announcer who got it all wrong. Not that it matters because I thought it was a brilliant and moving tribute.

As an ex marine can I say the silence was perfect and the last post,as it always does, bought a lump to my throat. So fuck up or not thanks to all the crowd for the silence and thanks for the bugler for a fantastic last post!!

Same at Arse just now - seemed the ref and players were maybe expecting a further period of silence after the bugle but the crowd clapped as we did so not sure now what was supposed to happen but it was a very good tribute whatever......
We will remember them

I don't understand why it could be described as a "real sour moment" it was impeccably observed and the last post was a real sombre and poignant moment. Correct. If I heard it right it should have been the minutes silence followed by the Last Post so it was the bugler fucked up. Just goes to show how folk hear different things I heard it clear as day Last Post, Silence , then Reveille mark the end of the silence and that is the correct order to do it in.

Oh what the heck, the parade around the pitch was fantastic as was the rendition of The Last Post to total silence. I was particularly moved by the Veterans who received and enjoyed the outstanding reception, shame the Club didn't shut the bar early to ensure the stadium was full.

Just watched the game back on sky. Announcer seemed to say last post followed by a minutes silence. The ref also seemed a tad confused when it wasn't observed and it was deemed best we move on after his linesman spoke to him.
I couldn't hear a word the announcer said along with the majority of the people in the ground it seems. Just another clusterfuck in the long line that is the stoke city matchday experience, it just so happens this one was particularly embarrassing.
How it can't be deemed as dangerous is beyond me

Thought he said the minutes silence will be preceded by the last post. I remember thinking this isn't going to go well, and it didn't.
Would have worked having the minutes silence finished off with the last post.
Still a nice moment mind.
