Oh and I nearly forgot about the posts from people saying that his best days were behind him ???? I think he deliberately dyes his hair grey to cover up the amazing new drug he's taking. One that reverses the aging process because he seems to be playing like he's younger and younger! Thats what I noticed about last night. I never thought Walters never had much pace but he outran the Chelsea backline easily last night. Maybe its an optical illusion caused by having Terry and Cahill in your team though! SJW is definitely looking leaner and fitter and more sharp than ever. With all the competition for places upfront, he has stepped up a level and become a goalscoring machine. Must be on course for his best goals return over a season AND hes been taken off penalty duties

Is there a video of that roll he did in front of the ref after Oscar (I think) went down? It was the funniest thing I've seen at the Brit since the Hull match where Dean Windass warmed up in front of a Delap throw-in and Myhill panicked and kicked the ball out for a corner instead of a throw-in.

We'd all love Walters to sign a new deal, if it's the right deal. We can't give him 3 additional years it'd be madness

It's very hard to justify starting our record signing when Walters plays the way he is right now. And it's even harder to justify not giving him that fucking contract! GET IT SORTED STOKE.
7 goals in 15 including internationals this season I believe.

His forward roll tonight mocking Willian was worth the entrance money alone. He was also up to his old tricks, taking a drink from Begos water bottle during the game

Only SJW and the club know the full details of the offer that has been made.
Walters is clearly valued by the manager, and I am sure he will be expecting those who handle contracts to do everything possible to keep Jon here.
That said we should not simply be caving into anyone's demands if we feel they are unreasonable.
I really hope a comprimise can be reached. Jon Walters should be finishing his top flight career at SCFC.

Why would it be madness?. Even if the amount he played in the 3rd year was reduced the income the club will be generating from the PL in coming seasons would make the outlay totally insignificant. Too important to be messing around like this.

I love Jon Walters and I'd even like him to stay at the Club in a coaching capacity down the line if it was possible, but I still don't see how we can justify the contract he wants. I'd be happy for him to stay for the rest of this season and be with us next season too but, marvellous goal last night and great attitude aside, in 18 months time he won't be the player he is even now. It's a tough call and if we change our position I'll have no problem, but I somehow doubt it. In the cold light of day we're still where we were in the Summer. But I still love him

Great result. Better than his goal against Chelski before? or at Wembley? Sign him up. Terrific that ArseNIL lost!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Had the day off today Cris, glad I did so I can bask in the afterglow of last night and recover my voice, what a strike from SJW!!!

But I still love him I agree....in 18 months he won't be the same player. Knowing SJW he'll be better. Get the contract sorted Stoke!!! PS if we were really seriously trying to sign that old Croatian fella (can't remember his name) from the Bundesliga to basically play in SJWs position it makes Jon's stand re. his contract a little more understandable.

I remember when he scuffed umpteen opportunities and fluffed his defensive duties but it's only fair to judge him now, and on that he deserves the right contract.

Outstanding by Whelan too. Disguised his intended pass until the very last second which led to Cahill standing off Walters to cover a possible run through by Whelan. We had a lot of other players on the edge of the box there, too, stretching their defence.

A memorable goal indeed great run and assist from the 'man of the moment' Glen Whelan, but boy that was some strike from Jon Boy!

He's proven to be one of our most consistent performers over the past few years, is one of the fittest players I've ever seen and is rarely injured or out of form. You know exactly what your going to get from Walters and he's exactly the kind of leader that is extremely hard to replace. I think he's done more than enough to earn a three year contract and end his career with us.

2 years would be about right.

i've always been against walters getting the contract that he's been after but there is no doubt that he is a vital member of this club
and we would be the poorer without him, so just give him his contract it does not mean he will see it out if in 18 months time
he's not in the team he'll want to leave for first team football and there will be plenty of takers

"The sticking point is Walters' desire for a two-year extension to 2018 now, but the club will only offer one year now and a second year dependent on appearances."
It's true that we don't know what's going on behind closed doors, and I can see it from both sides, but it seems so ridiculously close to a resolution. It would be madness for both parties to walk away. Walters to a lesser club, Stoke losing a decent player who is wanted by the manager and still contributing at first team level.
Give him what he wants. In an era where we've done the right thing by Sidibe and Wilkinson, I think Walters deserves a relatively minor bending of our self imposed rules.
What are we going to do if/when Shawcross reaches the same position - we'll give him what he wants I expect. So do it now.

3 years would be stupid, he's too old. 2 years would be about right. Sorry mate, can't take your opinions seriously anymore. You spewed your nonsense over an entire thread after last nights game talking about how half our team are not good enough and shouldn't be playing for the club. As far as I'm concerned, you know the square root of fuck all about fuck all and it's pointless anyone trying to have a reasoned conversation with you.

No - don't listen to the fans.
If he did half the squad would be given two year extensions one week and sacked the next.

Without knowing what the nature of the discrepancy between the two sides on contract talks is, any comment is literally window-licking mental. We don't have the facts.

Paying out 50K a week contract to a player till he's fucking 35. Any number of things can happen in two years to someone of his age, let alone 3.
